More About the Author

Patricia Parsons is currently Professor and a past chairman of the Department of Public Relations at Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, NS where she teaches communication ethics and strategy in both the baccalaureate and Masters degree programs.

Her professional and academic research and writing have been primarily in the areas of PR ethics and strategy and is the author of nine books and dozens of papers for the professional and lay press. She has supervised over 350 strategic communication/public relations plans for students working with not-for-profit organizations and small businesses.

Patty is a popular speaker on topics of communication and public relations strategy and ethics at public relations and corporate communications conferences.She is an accredited member of the Canadian Public Relations Society, and was admitted to the CPRS College of Fellows in 2005

Her community volunteer work revolves around the performing arts. She is currently a member of the national Board of Directors of Ballet Jörgen Canada in Toronto and chairs their Atlantic Advisory Board on the east coast.

Patty is also the consummate ballet mom -- with a son who travelled hundreds of miles from home at the age of eleven to live and study at Canada's National Ballet School in Toronto. Now a grad, her son Ian dances with Les Ballets de Monte Carlo in Monaco and she and her husband traipse around the world to see him dance.
