Beautiful collection of work,

This review is from: Patrick Demarchalier (Hardcover)
This book was put to gether by the Tony Shafrazi Gallery in 1997 and holds an excellent overview of Demarchalier's vision. Almost exclusively presented in B&W, with the cover photograph being a notable small exception, Demarchalier's work covers portraits, stars, fabulous nobodies and African animals in equal brilliance. Covering a large time period, the most amazing point about the overall presentation is how fresh and modern they all look, together and alone. 10 years on from the book's debut, Demarchelier is still aging quite gracefully.
Some photographers have an overall style you just 'get'. Each one of their compositions somehow sings to you personally. Demarchalier achieves that with me, and reminds me why I love this art in the first place. A must-have for any modern photography afficiando. Hard-to-find though.
