The recordings of this iconic Russian ensemble have been around for many years, but what makes these Bomba offerings different is that they are all sonically so much better than any previous recordings, probably because they are all recent and digital too. The diction of the singers is excellent, no muffled sounds here!(and i have been in the Pro Audio Industry for many years) Very smooth indeed! The instruments sparkle, and it is never fatiguing to listen to. These series of discs have been very well put together in my opinion, and are truly magnificent recordings of this renowned Russian ensemble doing what they do best.

Note:
This set differs slightly from the others i reviewed in the series as they are not Gold Discs but the regular silver variety,and for some reason do not have the extra Slip Cover that the others have either.
The exqusite Art work is still there though. All in all excellent value for this 2 CD set It does'nt get better than this. You will not be disappointed if you love this genre of music.
This set is probably my favourite as it has the best rendition of the old Soviet National Anthem first up on CD1 (remember hearing it so many times at the Olympics when the Russians won Gold.)"Best Folk Songs" is my second best choice in the series.
