The Doom Patrol was a excellent comic book that had a great family like team including beast boy who later became the changeling in the new team titans.
The stories were prime 1960's superhero fiction and the art was always very good. Sadly the series was facing cancellation and so the team was destroyed. ( you'll have to read the book to find out how) and this volume has that ending. In later days there was a new Doom Patrol. This volume concludes the original run of the doom patrol and the stories remain enjoyable and fun. Throughout the book is the feeling that this group of beings cares for each other and strives to do right against the odds. The group consisted of: elasti girl, negative man , the wheelchair bound chief, and the silver age version of the robotman. (with the beast boy and mento as members occasionally); The robotman would later come back to found a new doom patrol which is a good series in itself but not up to this standard character wise. The stories are very 1960's and on that level but the villians including the intelligent ape and a brain in a jar are just part of the difference that made the doom patrol a cult hit after the series died. This is a good read and we should thank dc for getting the whole series out in remastered reprints so that we can enjoy the great stories once again.
