The book is very outdated in its information although the information on the history of policing is good. I used it for several years in teaching a college course but eventually had to stop due to the out-dated information. When the 11th edition came out there were no detectable changes in content from the 10th edition and I would suspect some prior editions except for a new cover and some of the pictures within. Statements such as "the current Berger Court" tell me that previous updates were not very substantive. Warren Berger left the Supreme Court in 1986. Not a bad book for a library shelf though.
