Product Description

For years, rumors have circulated about the identity of country music legend Patsy Cline’s real father. In Patsy Cline: Our Father’s Other Daughter, Charlotte Brannon Bartles breaks her silence and reveals the long-awaited truth. Charlotte’s father, Chester Brannon, was also Patsy’s father. Learn about Patsy’s other family and the man she called Pop Brannon. Charlotte shares her memories of her famous half-sister and also talks about her efforts to penetrate the wall of secrecy surrounding the circumstances of Patsy’s birth and her father’s relationship with Patsy’s mother, Hilda Hensley.

Patsy Cline: Our Father’s Other Daughter is the chapter of Patsy’s life absent from all the other books and articles written about the late megastar.

“The true story will alter Patsy’s official biography and will be difficult for some to accept. But I think the truth should prevail over someone’s comfort level and the need to keep her life story “as is.” It should be a consolation to Patsy’s fans to know that Patsy knew a father who loved and adored her, regardless of how limited his role had been.” From Patsy Cline: Our Father’s Other Daughter

3.0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointed!, May 19, 2009
I was a bit disappointed in this book. Maybe I expected more.... It just seemed to me that the whole story revolved around the Charlotte's father & family. Sure, there were some parts about Patsy in there, but not nearly enough to really be able to decide one way or another if this claim is true or not. I felt like I was reading more about Charlotte's family than anything else.
Another thing that bothered me is that there was only ONE photo of Patsy in here, and that photo was obviously just a publicity picture taken from Patsy's Jimmy Dean show days....a photo that I have seen many times in other sources. I would have thought that Charlotte's family would have had at least ONE photo of Patsy from all the times it was claimed that she visited them. In the book the woman claims that they never took many pictures back then, and yet, there are numerous pictures of Charlotte's family dating back generations!! I just found that odd... I mean, come one, here you have a "famous" relative that is being claimed you're related to, and yet, you don't have ONE picture, not one, of Patsy actually being there at all? According to the book, the man in question loved bragging to everyone in their hometown that Patsy was his daughter, so it wasn't like a big secret in their household. And nobody thought to take at least one picture??
Im not judging anyone here and am in no way saying that this is all untrue, I just wish there were more proof, pictures, DNA, anything to back it up. There were so many photo's of Charlotte's family, even a "rare" photo of her greatgrandmother that was supposidly the only photo that ever existed, and yet, not ONE of the famous sister Patsy??
Maybe it was just me, but I expected to see at least some pictures of Patsy included in their many photos. In my opinoin, I felt the book was more about Charlotte's father, relatives and family than it was about Patsy, in which I took it to be hence the name of the book.
Very disappointing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting addition to legendary singer's biography..., June 1, 2007
I found this book an interesting read, if not all too brief. It was quite a bit shorter than I had imagined. Still, it was a very interesting read.

Also, the book is told in first and second hand accounts of the people making the claims in this book. I would have liked to have seen some sort of DNA proof of the claims made in this book, and this could have been done without exhuming the late singer's body. Patsy's children and the woman claiming to be her half-sister could have submitted to DNA tests, and this would have proved, without any doubt, that the claims made in this book are true.

I would take this book at face value, and it is a MUST for any true Patsy Cline fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very believable truth about Patsy Cline, July 4, 2006
By Lon D. Soles "Vicki Soles" (McGaheysville, Virginia) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I really enjoyed reading this very informative and enlightening book regarding some truths about Patsy Cline's family. It is very believable and written completely from the heart of Linda Sowers whom I feel was very courageous to write a book that could easily come under criticism. I live an hour south of Winchester, Va. where Patsy Cline grew up but I also live only 6 miles from Elkton, Virginia where her "legal" father hailed from. Folks in the Elkton area with the last name of Hensley or Shifflett will be very disappointed when they learn they can no longer lay claim to being related to Patsy Cline. Should they ever learn of this book's existence I doubt they will believe the contents. Would like to hear what Patsy's ex Gerald Cline has to say. Surely she told SOMEBODY!!!!
