2010 EP release from producer/musician Steven Ellison (AKA Flying Lotus). While the album Cosmogramma was high in concept and wide in musical collaboration, Pattern + Grid World pulls the focus back to Steven Ellison and his machines. These machines are speaking from the go, as "Clay" introduces itself in a fog of synth and vocoder and gives way to one of the many surprises here, the schizophrenic ping-ponging electro of "Kill Your Co-Workers". Drenched in alternating melodies, it's a synthetic counterpart to the grand string and harp arrangements of Cosmogramma, making acclaimed illustrator Theo Ellsworth's subtly psychedelic cover image of vision-through-noise all the more intimate.
I'm pretty hyped on this EP, Got the Vinyls and ive played it like 20 times already. I really like the Album cover, great artwork. and it also comes with a free Poster. Flying Louts keeps it pumpin! dope beats

This isn't as good as Cosmogramma, but it can't be, really. It's only 19 minutes. But for what it is it's great: a short, nice introduction to flying lotus, and a collection of tunes that are just designed to be happy and whimsical. I wouldn't say one track really stands out more than the others [Kill Your Co-Workers is a bit of an oddity, but after a listen or two it's pretty easy to find its place]. Note that I'm a big FlyLo fan, so ... review with a small grain of salt. I really like this EP though.

Love the cover detail and the music itself. Plan on purchasing more vinyls from him and other artists. Thanks for the quick response in getting the album to me. Love it.

The title says it all. It's a great little collection of songs from Flying Lotus. If you're already a fan, get on it! And if you don't know, this would make a great entry point for new listeners. I bought it on vinyl and it arrived a bit warped, but still plays well enough. Just looks like a rollercoaster ride for my needle (which in a way works visually with the album). But yes, it comes with a badass poster,mp3 files and a cover meant to be seen on a album sleeve. Be forworned however that mail isn't the most reliable as far as damage to the disc is concerned.
