I could never get my points to match until I read this book!,
By carolt@numega.com (Nashua, NH) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pattern Play - Print on Demand Edition (Paperback)
Doreen Speckman has a wonderful sense of humor about making quilts: "How many of us actually need the quilts we make? Ya got central heat?" This sense of fun, combined with her clear explanations and original approach to quilt design, raise "Pattern Play" a cut above most other quilt books. The hints on accurate piecing alone are worth the cost of the book. Beautiful color photos of many of Doreen's quilts make you want to run to the fabric store to start your next project.

how to teach creativity,
By Lee Thomson "tortures fabric" (Paradise, Mass., USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pattern Play - Print on Demand Edition (Paperback)
Of books that teach (or purport to teach) creativity, I like this the best. Using a few simple blocks, and applying a few simple techniques to them, Doreen Speckman opens the door to limitless creativity. Helping us linear souls get the feeling we are, in fact, capable of flights of fancy is liberating.
