5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Series! Great CD!
I love this series, and have to agree with another review that the Japanese Style 2 Sourcebook is my favourite!

Not only do I love the patterns, but the CD that comes with it has great commercial use terms that any designer has got to appreciate!

In response to Jo's comment - something tells me she's not a designer! She mentioned that all the...

1.0 out of 5 stars poor
its a shame to cheat customers. the author says that all images are PSD - and this is a truth - but it is a shame that he doesn't say that all pictures are 10 cm big (300 dpi)!!! what you can do with it? a poor bussiness card?
I am really disapointed. Wasted 17 euro.
DONT BUY IT!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Series! Great CD!, September 7, 2010
This review is from: Pattern Sourcebook: Japanese Style: 250 Patterns for Projects and Designs (Paperback)

She mentioned that all the images on the CD were too small to use even on a business card. Keep reading...

All of the PSD files are seamless tiles, which means you can make them 3 miles wide by 10 miles high if you want them to be. While a few of the designs are individual graphics, most are repetitive and are easily used in Photoshop if you load them as a pattern (EDIT - DEFINE PATTERN + LAYER - NEW FILL LAYER - PATTERN = enjoy!)

The author was very wise to make them this was as designers have the flexibility to make them whatever size they want them - very versatile!

I have used these books in my design work for the last few months and have found them to be invaluable. They are inexpensive, come with a fabulous CD, have great patterns and are easy to use. Well worth 12 bucks!

5.0 out of 5 stars inspiring and beautifully put together..., March 14, 2011
This review is from: Pattern Sourcebook: Japanese Style: 250 Patterns for Projects and Designs (Paperback)
The Pattern Sourcebook: Japanese Style, is full of great inspiration for artists - be they computer saavy, or more comfortable with sketchpad and pen(s). Since I don't have the right platform of computer, I find that replicating the designs featured in the book, by hand, has been a great way to get a sense of the Japanese style of flowers and line drawings, featured here. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this series!, June 22, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Pattern Sourcebook: Japanese Style: 250 Patterns for Projects and Designs (Paperback)
Ok, i've read some other reviews, where there are complaints about how the art is available on the CD-ROM, or that it should be longer in it's offerings. But I have to say, I love the series. I just ordered about 4 of them, and I find the size, printing, and the txt very inspiring. I've only tried to work with one image in Photoshop so far, and it was fine isolating the design from the background, and changing the colors of individual pieces. The written descriptions are eloquent and brief, which as an artist, I like. I don't have time or the desire to read too much information when I'm looking at art books. If you want to be inspired by these various subject matters, get the books! For $12.99, the Amazon price, it's a great deal.
