Meck's Tandem Rigs are a Proven Technique for more Hook-ups,
By "pennstate58" (Troy, Ohio (near the Mad River)) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Patterns, Hatches, Tactics, and Trout (Hardcover)
Meck does an excellent job of explaining the use of his method of Tandem Rigs. The use of attractor patterns is not new, but Meck's use of attractors in combination with bead head nymphs is a successful approach in producing more hook-ups. The author presents the use of his unique Patriot Dry Fly attractor in terms that even a mid-skilled fisherman like myself was able to take right to the stream and produce tight lines. In addition, there are many tips and tecniques for all types of flyfishing from top to bottom. Meck also provides many excellent recipes for nymphs and dry flys including the highly successful Meck Patriot. If you want to improve your results, this is a must read that will become one of your most important reference books in your flyfishing library.

Timeless Techniques on Fly Fishing,

This review is from: Patterns, Hatches, Tactics, and Trout (Hardcover)
This book is very informative and a good reference on many time proven fly patterns for every area of the country. I really enjoy Charles Meck's books and I use many of the tactics he recommends. The book assumes some fly tying experience though and may be lacking detail for beginner fly tyers (like me).

Charles Meck- A man that thinks like a trout,
By Dan Olson (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Patterns, Hatches, Tactics, and Trout (Hardcover)
The book Patterns, Tactics, hatches and Trout is a book of vast information in the fly fishing world. Seeing as i am from southwestern Pennsylvaina, this book is of great importance to me because it allows me to visit area's in Pa. without having to leave the house. Charles meck presents his adventures in this book with a real zest. The book actually makes you want to grab your flyrod and goto some of these places he has been. I have had the pleasure of meeting Mr.Meck and I'll tell you what, he carries himself the same way in person that he does in the book. I really enjoy going back and reading this book time and time again. If you are a avid fly fisherman and want to see a pro in action, get the book.
