The Patterson Puppies and the Rainy Day

One rainy day, four puppy sibling were desparately bored, until their imaginations kicked in. Beach time at the Patterson house! And then, one of them knocked over a cup. They could pretend the puddle was the ocean! Except, it wasn't quite big enough. So, they decided to make the puddle bigger and bigger. Everything was going swimmingly... until their parents showed up...

I am a big fan of Leslie Patricelli's board books. This is the first picture book I've read of hers. It was cute, but I wasn't blown away. It was amusing, seemed true to life, and had a comical "twist" at the end -- and had, as expected, great illustrations. Still, there are definitely funnier, better paced books out there. (Though, for the record, my 4-year old asked to read it back-to-back, so maybe I'm wrong...)

The books by this author are especially cute. I have purchased several of them for my grandchild and find each one enjoyable to read to him.

My toddler and I are big fans of Leslie Patricelli's books. This was one of his first "big" story books, rather than a simple board book. I thought the text would be a bit much for a not-quite-two-year-old but he loves it. We read it regularly. The pictures are full of Patricelli's usual whimsy. Even though this is marketed at the slightly older preschool crowd, it's a hit with my tot.

We have all of L. Patricelli's books, but this one is a little different. It's a very cute story about some mischievious little puppies. My toddler loves it, and he giggles through the whole thing. As usual, the illustrations are excellent. Highly recommend!
