Where Live In New York was funky, get-down Patti, Live! One Night Only is classy, elegant Patti. That is not to say the Diva is not as high energy as always, but that you can see her true beauty and grace in this tape filmed at the beautiful Hammerstein Ballroom in New York. If you've never seen Patti, she's a rare performer who takes you to the clouds with her first note, and doesn't let you back down until two days after the show is over. Patti starts the show in the back of the house, belting out the classic I Believe. Act I concludes with a performance of You Are My Friend/Lord's Side that'll make you swear you see Jesus clappin' his hands. Act II is Patti at her best! Backed by a full orchestra, Patti covers songs from Edith Piaf, Dionne Warwick, Ashford & Simpson and others. She closes out with a powerhouse performance of Over the Rainbow/I Believe I Can Fly. Even superstars Luther Vandross and Mariah Carey join in the fun. You'll laugh, you'll cry and then you'll start the show all over again just to experience it one more time. My only concern. . .can your soul and your speakers handle the performance?

This 1998 Concert filmed for PBS is Patti at her best. I was in the audience the night they taped the show and it is such a thrill to see it again on DVD. Patti rocks the Hammerstein Ballroom (NY) with: I Believe, When You Talk About Love, Lady Marmalade, If You Asked Me to, You Are My Friend, and Over The Rainbow. Patti has fans jumping out of their seats with the gospel hit, The Lord's Side. Patti is joined by Mariah Carey performing the classic soul hit, Got To Be Real. She is also joined by Luther Vandross for a rousing rendition of Hold On (Ashford and Simpson). Backed by a full orchestra Patti sings the classic Don't Make Me Over (Dionne Warwick) and and the haunting If You Loved Me (Edith Piaf). For all Patti Fans, this is a must have...

Having purchased live in New York it made me realise just what a great performer Patti Labelle really is!and although I enjoyed this concert I had purchased it on VHS and the picture and sound quality was not so good. So when I noticed there was a new DVD of Patti Labelle called One Night only I decided to buy it.I was not disappointed it has everything the first concert has and a great digital sound and picture.The concert starts on a Musical high and continues all the way through with great performances from Luther Vandross and Mariah Carey this concert really is one to own and cherish even if you are not a big fan.I have been converted and I hope other divas like Gladys Knight,Stephanie Mills,Regina Belle etc will take a look and think we will make a DVD as good as this one.Entertainment value 5 star!

She got the Grammy for best Tradional R&B vocal performance in '99 for this concert.
She's in top shape. Her amazing cover of the one "Edith Piaf" song shows you how versatile Patti can be.
There's nothing like watching a consumate performer doing her thing.

If you are a Patti LaBelle fan you will love this DVD, as I did. It is a very entertaining concert with variation, a full orchestra, guests to sing duets with, an attractive stage and good editing. The sound and picture quality is excellent!
The term 'Diva' gets thrown around too much these days to describe too many. Just because one is popular for five minutes doesn't make her a 'Diva'. Patti LaBelle IS a 'Diva' alongside Aretha, Diana, Tina, Cher and only a few others.

This is one of the best concerts I have seen. Patti is awesome. Her performance on this DVD was like being there with her. The sound quality is great. This is a must DVD to have in anyone's collection

Patti... Patti... Patti.. At age 63 what else can I say. This is a GREAT concert of Power and Passion. This video is a must have edition.

JUST SEEING AND HEARING LUTHER VANDROSS BROUGHT TEARS TO MY EYES,REMINDING ME OF ANOTHER LOSS OF A TALENTED SINGER. " AGAIN ENJOYED THIS DVD AND HIGHLY RECOMMEND BUYING THIS DVD IF YOU TRULY ENJOY PATTIE. DVD IS CLEAR AUDIO EXCELLENT, MAKES IT SEEM THAT YOU ARE AT THIS CONCERT . IF YOU WANT TO LAUGH, SHOUT ALONG WITH PATTIE MAYBE EVEN CRY WHILE LISTENING TO SOME OF THESE SONGS, "BUY THIS DVD. THANK YOU AMAZON.

One of the Great Voices of Soul/R&B music, Patty tears it up! Audio/Visual are all great. Luther Vandross & Maria Carey join Patty on stage & do what they do, SANG! The band & back ground singers where great also. This is a hot concert! I'll say it again, when you get a chance to purchase a concert DVD of a musical icon, you do it!

Patti is a great entertainer and her performance and guest were awesome on this DVD. I really enjoyed this DVD. I wish she would sing her songs without adding church along with it. Right kind of lover wasn't included on this DVD as stated on the package.
