Female fans of Patti Stanger, TV's Millionaire Matchmaker, who've secretly wanted to hire Stanger to remake their own love lives as she does for her hapless millionaires, will love Married in a Year. Stanger presents an engaging demonstration of her 12-month "love action plan" to keep women's eyes on the dating prize: true commitment including an engagement ring, within a year. Stanger is assisted by capable actors who play out how new relationships might unfold, and who's making the right and wrong choices along the way. Stanger's no-nonsense approach is one of her best qualities, and Married in a Year is Stanger at her most caustic, and most insightful. The tips are intuitive, but also good reminders for single people of either sex--especially how to spot red flags and how to move on quickly, not wasting precious time in the wrong situation. Stanger also hangs out with some frank-talking men who speak about their own deal-breakers in a relationship, what they expect and look for in a potential long-term mate, and what mistakes women make from the male perspective. And women, Stanger will not be going easy on you, either. You need to perk up your appearance (use Spanx, whiten your teeth, dress like you want a man to notice you, and for heaven's sake, cover up that cleavage!). Once you get past her extremely long Sensa weight loss ad, which comes on before anything else, this DVD doesn't offer anything new that Patti has always preached on her show and outlined in her book. The production quality is poor and everything is scripted and staged. There are a few good pointers, but overall its not worth spending your money on.

I was pretty disappointed with this dvd. It did have some good pointers, but it did not cover anything about special issues such as being older, dating after children, etc. This dvd is for the young single who has not been married or had children before. I also thought that some of the messages that a guy isnt going to like you if you dont look like a supermodel were disheartening and wrong. Basically, this dvd is good if you don't have a clue.

I've been a huge fan of Patti Stanger for a few years now so getting this dvd was complimentary to her book, "Becoming Your Own Matchmaker" and the teachings she's relayed on her show, "Millionaire Matchmaker". This dvd provides a visual perspective to her book, however, if you don't own the book you won't be lost. What I really enjoyed about the dvd was the special features where you get to see her sitdown with 4 gentlemen who've agreed to participate in a discussion about how they handle the dating scene, moving from dating to an exclusive, committed relationship, sex expectations (when they expect to get it and what happens if & when they don't), all the way to marriage and what makes them want to pop the question...it's all there and from the male perspective. It was funny and very enlightening. I've already recommended her book as well as this dvd to several of my single girlfriends. Simply put...watch, learn & enjoy!
