This humidifier is easy to use in that there is no filter required to cover the heating element, so keeping things clean is a snap. However, I found it to be a bit noisy (gurgle). If I put in the bedroom, I have to pretend its raining. It also doesn't run for anything like the advertised time (certainly not overnight).

That said, when my other, older humidifier dies, I will likely replace it with one of these.

I have two of them. No filters needed. I used one for 3 winters before I cleaned it by using a screwdriver to break off hardwater deposits and it worked fine afterward.

This is the best humidifier for people who are too lazy to constantly clean them.

This humidifier works well, and we love the "climate control" function. The only drawback is that the tank only holds about 3-4 hours worth of mist, so it requires constant refills, and will not run throughout the night (but perhaps that is standard, as we are not humidifier experts).

Have used one for over 2 years with no issues whatsover - super easy to fill. Best to use filtered water. It lasts about 8-10 hours on max humidy. Buying another one for the second bedroom!

This humidifier lasted exactly 4 days before it just stopped working. It took a ridiculous 25 minutes to set it up and getting to pump out some mist the first night, but otherwise seemed to be working well. It was annoying that it needed to be cleaned every day instead of once a week like the directions said, but I can deal with that. By the second night, the knobs started acting a little temperamental. By the third night, the power light stopped working even though the unit was operating (safety hazard), water was leaking out of the knobs (safety hazard) and the humidifier wouldn't create steam unless it was set on full blast (wall/carpet/floor damage). Next time I tried to turn it on, nothing happened, it was dead. What a waste of time! Do yourself a favor and buy a better brand.

Bought this at target and it worked one night. The following night all the lights came on but no mist came out. Returning. Obviously defective so I can't say how an up to par one would work. We are switching to a cool mist humidifier now anyways. They seem to last longer from all the reviews I've read.

OK! It works fine. It does all the things it says it does. BUT.. I gave the low star ratings based on the cleaning procedure. Every day it must be taken apart and as usual the heating element must be cleaned. First, you have to disassemble it by removing it from the base. When you try to clean the element, it is difficult as it is too close to the side of the unit and getting your fingers and a rag in there is a real hassle. Don't know why they couldn't let a little more room there. Of course, all the rest has to be cleaned as well and that means vinegar thru all the parts etc. This is a daily chore and as good as it all works.... next one will be a "cold mist". Won't go into more detail but I think you get the idea. If this isn't a problem for you... then this is a fine unit.

This humidifier works well. There are some drawbacks. At night we would keep it on low otherwise it would be gurgling. The first bit I was very good about cleaning it. But after being on vacation, can't get back into the routine 'cause it takes a little bit of time.

i am stunned at the extent some people go with researching humidifiers after reading a few online here. i bought this one with virtually no knowledge of how/ why they work- just had a coupon for bed bath and beyond and the price after that put amazon to shame (sorry amazon). i actually bought two different humidifiers today- this one is my favorite so far. when it says "no filter" it means it. the other one Honeywell HWM450 Quick Steam Warm Moisture Humidifier said "no filter" too, but you open it up and there are "mineral cartridges" or discs to replace. i felt lied to. the Holmes HM5305 has NOTHING to replace. i assume this means i will do more work with cleaning. i'm fine with that. so far:
pros: a reasonable size, easy to read instructions (short and to the point), nice construction. sounds like a coffee pot brewing when set on high. i like coffee so its a comforting sound.
cons: water tank (when being filled upside down) is not flat on the top- poor design!! so you have to "balance it" in the sink while filling. oh well.
i filled it up all the way and will update this review once i have used it for a time.
