5.0 out of 5 stars Mighty Windy!
This is the most powerful fan I have ever seen for the consumer market. You can actually suspend a beach ball over the column of air. It is quite noisy on high speed, but the return in air movement is just compensation. I bought my Patton on July 4, 1996. That day, in Dallas, it was a typical 100 degrees F and my air conditioner died. This fan was my only relief. It has...

1.0 out of 5 stars not happy with my fan
I bought this fan as everybody else did thinking this would be a nice fan that would last me for a long time I bought it last year and it didnt ever last me two seasons. I turn it on and it runs fine for a while then it gets hot and shuts down. So needless to say it is no god to me now I dont dare leave it on all night for fear it will short out or something like that. I...

A word of warning: I broke my little toe on the heavy steel frame one night while navigating my apartment in total darkness. Ouch!

So needless to say it is no god to me now I dont dare leave it on all night for fear it will short out or something like that. I only use it in my bed room at night and that is it so it is not used 24 7 so it has not been beat on. I bought a new one of a diffrent brand and have not had a problem with it . I know two diffrent people who bought the same kind of fan and theirs did the same thing. In my opinion it was not a good value for the money I paid for it it really dissapointed me.

This fan is GREAT! I have had a patton fan on my patio for about 8 years. I have left it out in the rain on several occasions and it still runs great. I will never buy another brand of fan.

PROS

** High Velocity

** Very portable

** High Endurance

CONS

** The power switch sometimes comes off.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Barn Fan Ever, August 13, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Patton U2-20 20-Inch Hi-Velocity Whole-House Air Circulator (Kitchen)
I'm an owner of several horses who are stabled during the summer show season. These barns become very hot and humid which is stressful on the horses. Each horse now has their own Patton fan. All of the horses love them. They cannot chew through the grill to get to the blades or even push the grill in to stop them. With a standard box fan these activities are common as well as a major cause of barn fires. These fans just shut off when there is a problem, eliminating that potential risk.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best fan I have purchased yet!!!, July 19, 2001
This review is from: Patton U2-20 20-Inch Hi-Velocity Whole-House Air Circulator (Kitchen)
I just purchased this fan last night, and I have to tell ya, it is the best fan I have ever purchased. I first heard of Patton Fans when I worked at one of our town diners, and they worked great. I bought it and couldn't wait too take it home and test it out, and I will tell ya, this thing for sure moves air. I sat it in our hallway, and we have 3 bedrooms and one restroom, and i set the thing on LO speed, and it kept the rooms cool just blowing down the hallway, HI speed would have been too high for our hallway. Anyways, I took it too work, and I must tell ya, everybody around where I work liked it. We work where it ccan get too 120 degrees easily, and this keeps it nice and cool. It is very portable and u can feel safe with it because of its features it has. It has an automatic overheat thermostat that turns the fan off when it senses the fan gets hot, and the fan will not start until the fan has cooled down too a certain level. It is also nice that the grille has latches on it, so u can pull the front off and clean the grill and blades without having too mess with screws, it has a conveniant cord wrap on the back where u can wrap the cord, so it doesn't dangle all over the place. The stand is durable, and is shaped for in the event it is tipped backwards, it will land on its sides too keep air moving too the back so it will still move air. It has a 360 Degree turn on it so u can move air at you, or point it upward too cirulate air around the room. All and all, this fan deserves 5 stars. It is alot better than any fan I have seen yet, and I know I can depend on this fan for many years too come. Make the smart choice, go for a Patton 20" fan, and enjoy a nice breeze, both inside and out. Get yours soon!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Whole House Circulator!!, July 14, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Patton U2-20 20-Inch Hi-Velocity Whole-House Air Circulator (Kitchen)
I have owned several of these fans over the last several years and have had 2 of them fall off window sills and still run. I had to call Patton for a replacement blade for one that fell but it ran like new after I installed the new blade (piece of cake). Never had a problem with overheating shutoff, just keep things off the back of the fan to allow airflow. It is noisy but it IS a air circulator meant for your whole house. Use it blowing out a open window at night in the summer and every other window in the house has a great cool breeze flowing all night. It was never designed to have it blowing directly on you while you watch TV. All of you who claimed you had trouble with the product should have called Patton instead of writing it off as a "bad purchase". Their customer service is without equal and would have made sure you were satisfied! I wish everything I've purchased was engineered, built and serviced as well.

The fan even has a safety switch on it so it will not start a fire if it over heats.

Well, after reading the glowing reviews from people who've long known about Patton fans and how great they are, I had to try one.

Get this, the fan is downstairs, and even though it's on the "lowest" setting, when my wife and I sleep upstairs, (traditionally warmest in every home), we can still feel the breeze gently lapping at our toes!

Best of all, although we have a forced central air conditioner with the thermostat set to go on if the temps inside reach 80 degrees, it now only cycles on a couple of times a day instead of constantly through the dog days of summer.

Result? Lower energy bills by at least one-third to one-half! Everyone knows that even your refrigerator, which is constantly on, the biggest and still the most expensive energy-guzzling appliance in your home is your darn A/C.

I was a skeptic, but no more. My only curiosity is what it would be like if I put the fan at its highest setting. I'd probably have to tape everything down, put paperweights everywhere and eat my dinner more quickly before it cools down.

I know these workhorses are used a lot in stores and offices, but in a single-family detached double-story home, it's beyond sufficient. Just find the right place for it, trial-and-error, and it'll be one of the best buys you'll ever make.

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful but significant noise levels, July 10, 2003

Powerful is the first thing to come to mind. I have rarely turned this fan above LOW. The noise level is significant, so keep that in mind. You probably won't want this in the middle of your living or family room. It is great at the end of a hall blowing down the length of the hall or airing the house out on a warm day. I have it on low twenty feet away from me now and it feels like I've got a fan blowing right on top of me.

It is all metal, blade and grill. Reviews of newer models show they use non metal blades and the blades break. If you point the fan downward, to create a draft across the floor, the grill vibrates and rattles till you are about to go insane. ISome thin carbboard wedged into the gap between the grill will stop it.

I just lent it to my landlord, he's working outside on a hot day and there isn't enough breeze. On medium he can feel the fan twenty feet away across the porch.

Other than that, the fan is a superb value. Despite the noise I give it 5 stars cause it is more powerful than any fan I've bought in ten years including those that cost more. At this much power I'll accept noise.
