When I saw this Patty Duke reunion movie that did not have a date, that I could find, I thought it was probably made in the 1970s, since the original show was made in the '60s. I also thought it was probably going to be quaint, and hopefully I could make it to the end. Surprisingly, it was made in 1999 and was more than quaint. It was actually very good and I wished it was even longer. All the original cast members are back, except Cindy Williams plays Patty's old nemesis and Cindy Williams was not in the original show.

In this movie, Patty is a teacher, mother and grandmother in Brooklyn. She is divorced from her childhood boyfriend, Richard. But Richard is still very much in the picture here. (Hint! Hint!) Cathy's a widow who lives in Scotland with her teenage son. They come to visit Patty, along with her parents and brother, when Patty is fighting to save her Brooklyn high school from being closed. There's a lot of humor and poignancy in the movie, complete with flashbacks from the original TV show. William Schallert is a super older dad, just like he was as a younger dad, and Patty's mother, Jean Byron, is a hoot in her older age. Cathy still has a strange unrecognizable accent, but her son has a Scottish accent to die for, so I guess that makes up for Cathy's accent! If you were a fan of the show, you should love this movie. Hopefully, The Patty Duke Show: Season One will be an Amazon Prime series one day, for those in a nostalgic sixties mood.

I had no idea that this movie existed, and was so thrilled to discover it on Amazon! The original cast of the show was back, allowing Patty and Kathy to get together again and make the kind of mischief that always ends with lessons learned and good news for all.

Back in the day, we were all mega-fans of The Patty Duke Show, and talked about it relentlessly the day after it aired. Of course, there weren't a zillion channels, so watching a hit show was something of a tribal experience. I think that added to the aura of importance surrounding hit shows for our generation.

Patty Duke fans should not miss Still Rockin' in Brooklyn Heights!

It was good to see this again! I loved this show as a teenager and it felt good to see the old stuff. Very good feelings attached to this show. Long before all the junk that is acceptable today on TV and allows young children to have access.

It's a movie to have on in the background. Great to see the gang from Brooklyn Heights but someone could've written a less mundane script despite its origin as as a sitcom. Clips from the original series are interspersed and Cindy Williams plays Patty's nemesis Sue Ellen this go around. If you like Patty, you'll like this 1999 TV movie. If you don't then why'd you click here in the first place?

A nostalgic visit to the past with Patty Duke reviving her identical cousins theme .She and her identical cousin are battling Sue Ellen played by Cindy Williams, to keep their Brooklyn Heights School from being closed and demolished. The movie is full of flashbacks and has brought back most of the original cast to give it authenticity. A must for all Patty Duke Show fans.
