One of the best Recording of the genre ever done before,

This review is from: Paul Hindemith: Complete Brass Works (Audio CD)
This is an historic recording where the highest level of brass playing can be heard. Indeed, it is a reference for those professional and students who want an insight of style and performance practicing of how Hindemith's works should be Played. The balance between soloists and accompainment is perfect. There is another recording with the same contents, that should be checked out for pedagogical porpouses. The album (sony records) was performed by the members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Gleen Gould piano.

Hindemith. WOW,
This review is from: Paul Hindemith: Complete Brass Works (Audio CD)
So this copy of the brass sonatas is really good. One major thing that is excellent about this recording is that for the Alto Horn sonata they actually include the poem writen by Hindemitn to start off the fourth movement. I give this recording 5 stars because the performances are of the highest quality and I have played Hindemith before and this is a great way to hear how these pieces should be played.

Just to clarify for those who may be interested: The recording in question that "should be checked out for pedagogical PURPOSES" is performed by members of the PHILADELPHIA ORCHESTRA with GLENN Gould as the pianist. |
