The best intro to Klee,
By Claude Reich (Florianopolis, Brazil and Paris, France) - See all my reviews (TOP 1000 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Paul Klee: His Life and Work (Hardcover)
This book, a catalogue for an exhibit held at MOMA, is the best general publication in English on Klee's work. Beautiful reproductions, a clear chronologically organized text, it successfully answers the challenge of summing up the career of this giant of XXth century art. It is getting harder and harder to find, so if you can get your hands on it, it is an opportunity not to be lost.

This review is from: Paul Klee: His Life and Work (Hardcover)
We were fortunate to have obtained a windfall of 9 Klee books:
First published in 1987 in accompaniment to a MOMA exhibit. Then RE worked and re-edited. This is THE definitive Klee art book! 1st an exhaustive in depth biography. An unbelievable historical journey. spanning all the various influences. Bringing to life the world around Klee and its changing climate as Klee matured into a master artist. The 2nd half of this large art tome presents 213 exquisitely reproduced works of art. Drawings/ etchings/ paintings/ and puppets. The color scale exact. THe choices range from familiar KLee icons to rare works of wonder. WOW - Klee heaven! Please see our other KLee reviews. |
