5.0 out of 5 stars best ever
I have long hair that I blow dry every morning so I was in desperate need of a product that would kill the frizzies without making it stringy and oily looking. 3.0 out of 5 stars It's good, but I've found better.
Here it is: the legendary Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum.
When it came in, I was super excited.
But lo and behold, IT DID NOT DO WONDERS.
My hair is frizzy and unruly, and all it did was calm it down a little. Don't get me wrong, it's good,
but I use Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine, and THAT, my friends, DOES WONDERS.
It texturizes while it...

I had not been able to solve my problem until I got a free sample of this product. Instantly I was hooked on it, and I have tried everything. This product just seems to absorb into the hair shaft, not coat it. With other products it is easy to overdo it and ruin your hair by making it look oily. Not so with this product. If you distribute it evenly and blow dry it it makes your hair super silky and shiny, it even brings out the color of your hair a little. I've just ordered another full size bottle and can NOT go a day without it. Nice fragrance, not strong. Looks amazing after a flatiron or curling. This was a real find for me and I recommend it to everyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best serum there is for dry, brittle or damaged hair, March 17, 2007
I won a free sample bottle of this last year and ever since then, I cannot live without it. Both my husband and I have long hair with mine nearly to my waist. Even though we don't use heat to style our hair, the damage from brushing and combing adds up. When you have long hair, even with proper brushes and combs, you tend to stretch the hair as you comb it out wet and further stretch when you brush during styling. The result is split ends and fragile hair. We have found that applying this serum to towel dried hair and then letting it sit for 5 to 10 minutes makes comb-outs easier and less damaging. You can also use on dry hair - put a dime sized amount in your palms, rub your hands together and then lightly touch your hair from the ends up to the roots, running your fingers through the hair as we go. Then lightly brush your hair and pat the top side from the part to the ends with what little remains on your hair.

The only way you can go wrong with this product is to over-apply it. A little goes a very long way when your hair is dry. When wet, you can get away with using a little more. The product is easy to use but very slippery. You will have to towel off your hands after using it or wash them. The fragrance is fruity and pleasant but light enough not to clash with your cologne or perfume. I prefer to use this on damp hair in place of a leave-in conditioner. Once hair is dry, I use Kenra Silkening mist instead of another round of of serum. The silkening mist is lighter, tames flyaways better and does not look greasy. If you have had problems with greasy hair using the Super-Skinny Serum, try using my method: Super-skinny serum on damp hair, Kenra Silkening mist on dry hair. When you combine the two products, you get a nice layered control of frizz. I then further treat my hair once a week or once every two weeks with a hot oil treatment. Using all three of these products together can go a long ways towards ridding you of split ends, frizzies and breakage.

One added caution - The Super Skinny Serum will coat your hair. That's how it makes comb-thru so much easier. If you don't wash your hair everyday or every other day, the build-up of product on your hair can start to look dull and greasy. If you only wash a couple or a few times a week, consider using a clarifying shampoo or one that is specifically forumalted to address styling product build-up on the hair.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just what my hairdresser ordered, December 11, 2006

I have long (past my shoulders) thick course wavy hair myself and could not find a product that would make my hair less frizzy and plain WILD looking. My hairdresser recommended this product to me and I just had to try it. Not only does this remarkable product smooth out my FRIZZIES and make my hair much more managable it cuts the drying time down drasticly. It was taking me over 10 mins to dry my hair each morning. Using this product it takes less than 4 mins. I've found that after applying this to my hair and running a wide tooth comb through it helps distribute the product evenly, and makes my hair silky smooth. I just love this product and am so glad my hairdresser recommended it. I will not go a day without it!!! And boy what a great fragrance. I've had many complements.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, even for fine and thin hair, November 14, 2007
I have fine, thin hair that looks greasy with most products, but this stuff is incredible! Just a tiny drop, smoothed between my hands then spread through my hair cuts drying time in half, makes my hair look smooth and shiny, and doesn't weigh my hair down. I can still use my volumizing mousse afterward, too! All my girlfriends swear by this stuff - kinky hair, thick wavy hair, straight thick hair, and my thin fine hair. Awesome stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product!, June 7, 2006
This serum works wonders when I am straightening my curly hair. It helps reduce frizz, restores shine and protect against the damage from the blow dryer and flat iron. I also recommend the Super Skinny shampoo and daily treatment. The serum is not too heavy, but does a great job of controlling and smoothing my hair. A small amount works well, and I can add additional product to the ends if they still seem dry or more flyaway than the rest. I have had great luck with this product and it is the line I consistently use after trying many, many other brands and being very disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE BEST!!!!!!!, October 9, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is the best product ever! It smoothes, conditions, and makes your hair feel super clean! If using the right amount, hair never feels greasy, just clean! I love it! And I've tried a few other similar type products and I always come back to this one! Buy it, you won't be sorry!

5.0 out of 5 stars super skinny serum is the best, August 19, 2008
This is the only product that I have found that will control frizzies. NY humidity is rough, but this tames out of control hair and leaves it feeling extra soft. I love it

5.0 out of 5 stars Most awesome hair product I've ever used!, July 29, 2007
My hairdresser recommended this product. I had asked her what to use to make my hair shiny, soft, manageable, prevent flyaways, and protected when I use my flat iron. I was skeptical at first since I have used similar serum products with lackluster results. But let me tell you, not only was I pleased with this product, I was blown away with how great it is! Not only does it smell great, but it actually WORKS! My hair is so soft it is unbelievable. And I have never had so many compliments on how shiny and good my hair looks. If you are looking for a product that actually comes through on its claims, this is the one for you!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Leave-In Conditioner (But Much More), February 25, 2006
This review is from: Paul Mitchell Super-Skinny Smoothing Serum Pump 5.1 Ounces (Health and Beauty)
For years I had used Paul Mitchell's Leave-In Conditioner for color treated hair. Even the rest of my family used it because it was a great de-tangler.

I had run out of the Leave-In Conditioner and the last time I was at the salon, they were out of it, too. I tried another leave-in conditioner and it was awful...so I returned it to get my money back.

I just got a hair cut last week (when I returned the other product) and the hairdresser used Paul Mitchell's Super-Skinny on my hair. I had gotten a perm a few weeks before that, and the other hairdresser left it in a bit too long--causing some frizzed edges on my highlighted hair. I didn't get my hair trimmed because it would have left it too short at the time of the perm, so I got most of the frizzies cut out on this visit.

Well, this time she used Super-Skinny Smoothing Serum on my hair and I LOVED it. I could tell that it made a difference. Not only that, it smells heavenly! You just squirt a few pumpfuls in your hands, rub them together, and apply the serum to the ends FIRST...then work your way towards the scalp.

The serum isn't a gel, which means that it's not sticky AND it doesn't hold. It's more of a de-frizzer and/or leave-in conditioner. Also, it's heat activated, so make sure you blow dry your hair after you apply the Super-Skinny Smoothing Serum. Another thing: my hairdresser told me to apply the other products AFTER the serum (mousse, gel, etc.) before blow drying.

I highly recommend this product if you want to tame unruly hair, soften coarse hair, de-frizz ends, or condition your hair. Please note: it appears oily on the hands, so it may not be the best product for those who have oily hair.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better than most products I've used..., January 20, 2011
A Kid's Review
This is one of the best products I've used recently to help straighten my super curly hair. I only need a VERY small amount even with my super thick hair. I love the fresh smell - not too overpowering.

The best product I've ever used was made my Clinique and is no longer available. Paul Mitchell's Super Skinny product is probably 2nd or 3rd to that product.

Another great product that is a little less expensive and easier to find in stores is John Frieda's Thermal Protection Hair Serum. I think this may be a little better than the Paul Mitchell product actually.
