I already own a few lower-end Acoustic guitars, but wanted to upgrade to a mid-priced model than wouldn't break the bank. As primarily an electric player, I've been quite satified with a couple of PRS electric SE models I bought about a decade ago so I had nothing but the highest expectations for this SE Acoustic.

Fortunately, this guitar delivers where it counts. Warm-sound, Playability, Tone are all there as expected. But the most pleasing difference is a noticeable balance in sound. Every string, on any part of the neck sounds balanced so that when you strike a chord, you can give each string equal attack. I'm not referring to the intonation of the note per se, but the brightness or shimmer of each note. I had been so used to adjusting my attack to be lighter on the higher strings of my other guitars, that I I'm still getting used to this welcomed change.

Unfortunately, this guitar fell short of a perfect score because I noticed a slight warping of the spruce top directly under the bridge. More of a dimpling really, where the PRS X-bracket support braces attach underneath. While this does not affect the sound, it is visually noticable when viewing the guitar at an angle due to its high gloss refective surface. Bottom line is its not perfect - so I can't give it a perfect score. Since I made my purchase online, I think I'll just live with it. After all, music is a pleasure enjoyed by the ears, not the eyes.

As a beginning guitar player, I'm 64 yrs old and I really got serious about finally learning to play the guitar. I've been taking private lessons since Jan. 2013, in April I purchased the PRS SE Angelus Acoustic Electric and I LOVE IT. I don't know a whole lot about guitars but I love music and I really get excited when I hear good guitar playing, so I pretty much know what it's supposed to sound like and my guitar sounds GOOD. I'm still learning or should I say I'm still getting acquainted with "Bird" That's the name I gave her, maybe it's because of the birds on the fretboard. Bird has a dimple in the finish but that's what makes her mind. Put her in a group of the same guitars and I will pick her out.

I even love the case that the guitar came with, the case speaks quality. This guitar sounds great with or without the amplifier.

I'm seriously considering purchasing another PRS Guitar, this time I'm going electric just haven't decided on the model.

ok, i've been playing this now for a few days and it continues to grow on me. first, the guitar just looks great: the birds in the fingerboard are obviously nice, the woodgrain is fine, the lettering 'SE Angelus' on the head is raised so you can feel the texture; don't expect the 'ablam' that they discuss in the questions--it's just the regular dark woodgrain around the soundhole. it's not a very large guitar, but it isn't overly light, because (i think) it's a solidly built guitar. well-balanced; with the strap on it stays put, no neck dives or anything like that. now, the voice on this thing is really incredible. as a matter of fact, i'd say it's about in the 90th percentile compared to my martin d-35 in terms of volume and tone. i like a lower action because my fingers tend to fatigue easily, but i have no complaints whatsoever with what i describe as a middle range action on this guitar because it's so easy to fret the strings. bouncy and easy give, like the strings know what their role is: they fret and then go right back to where they should when released (but not too high). now what is the ultimate kicker, the absolute seller of this guitar is how well the strings bend. i'd say it's about 80-85% bendable of what i'd expect from a strat, even in the lower frets! for me, i always seem to come across guitars with good action, but the strings don't bend...or, if they're bendable, the action is too low and then there's buzzing, etc. prs got this thing right and good on em. (btw, although it's a strummer like a martin and not a picker like a taylor, it's more playable than a martin because the strings are so bendable.) i can think of many guitars out there that might (barely) beat this one out when compared side-by-side, in terms of volume, tone, action, etc.Read more ›

I would have really enjoyed this guitar more but I cannot get over the fact that I feel betrayed by PRS guitars. I have always dreamed of owning a real PRS, not an SE and being that I am military in Honduras, I can't afford a real PRS. I was deeply disappointed with the representation of this guitar. First the picture of the guitar I bought showed nice abalone inlays around the sound hole which ended up not being real, but rather a dark wood. Second the guitar I purchased was $717.00 at the time of purchase, not even 24 hours after purchase the guitar went down 100 dollars. I tried to contact the seller for clarification but they would not respond. I am just deeply disappointed, it seems like PRS doesn't care.

Quick shipping, well packaged, product as described, would recommend Seller. Guitar is in great shape. Hardly any usage marks or scratches. Plays really smooth and easy all over the fretboard.
