Fun Workout with a Cheer Focus, October 13, 2007
I bought this DVD set to see if there were any good workouts or elements of the workouts that I could use with a cheerleading team I was working with. I watched all five and tried to workout with most of them. :-) The girls in the videos seem to really know what they are doing and are very clear on proper position for any movement they teach you. The videos are fast paced - teaching you the movement and then jumping right in. They had some great technique workouts that can really help any cheerleader with getting height in their jumps and sharp and fast arm movements.
My favorite of the set was the Moves because it was the "funnest." She teaches you several different combinations that help you work on getting sharper and correct form. It also works on counting and hitting the move on the correct count. I also really liked the Stretch dvd as it works on your flexibility and is a little more relaxed then the other dvds.
The other three, Endurance, Jump, and Power were much more high energy and stronger "workouts". You could burn a lot of calories doing those three. They were all excellent workouts for what they were focusing on.
One thing that's cool about this set was the each dvd focuses on a certain area that you can work on, whether stretching and flexibility, building your endurance, sharper movements, etc. So, you can pop in whichever one you feel you need to most work on and you can vary the workouts so you don't get bored because you have a selection to choose from.
The only complaint I had, and it's fairly small, was that in the Jump dvd I would have liked more advice on getting proper position for some of the harder jumps. The focus was the easier jumps and increasing your height, which is important, but I would have liked a little more.

Don't buy it to learn to, or to enhance, your cheers..., October 14, 2008
This has five cds. Four workouts, one 'cheerleading'. I bought the five cd-set to learn to cheer routines. When I bought the package they didn't sell the single 'moves' on it's own yet. If it had I'd have bought only the cheering dvd. As it was, at the time, it was all hawked as a complete package.
Having been in cheerleading before, I found the instruction of 'moves', the cheerleading cd of the five, unbearably tedious, monsterously SLOW, and so repeatitive on the easy parts (like five never ending long chatty tries on the easiest part) then fast on the hard parts with bad direction, and no music, halting, stalling, frustrating, ultimately fruitless for the result vs. time spent. The ending routine is about 25 seconds all said and done. Not well-cut or chorographed. Very disatisfying 'moves' cd. You won't learn to cheer from this at all. For a great paced cheering routine that's a work out also, try 'Cheeracise', or the absolutely marvellous "We Cheer" game on the wii (it's got 30 routines on it, with fab music, and it's a darn good challange, have you cheering for a good long time).
Buy this set for the other four cd killer workouts, not to learn how to cheer or to learn a routine, and you'll be happy. The four 'workout' non-dance disks are 5-star and excellent and challanging. Would be good for gymnists as well.
The problem comes in that it is marketed heavily on cheering, tho and doesn't deliver at all there.
Great production, sunny locations, nice nice girls, challanging and upbeat workouts, very california and blonde and sweet and non-irritating (unless the freshness of a positive, cheerleading attitude annoys you).
Paula does a 1 minute blur for the intro then is never seen again. Which I felt was also misleading as you expect her to be in the routines being the former stellar cheerleader she was. But even this doesn't, ultimately, take away from the solidness of the workouts, it's just that ripped off feeling you soon forget.
It wasn't at all the fun 'cheer' routine/workout set I thought I was buying; it's just another challanging workout routine - so for that it was disapointing and failed, but for what it turns out to be - again just workouts, it is well-done and worth a look, and those girls work hard at what they do. There's no disputing that.

Wish I'd found these sooner, September 8, 2008
I've been cheering for 7 (going on 8) years so I was just looking for something that would help me improve my skills and have fun doing it. Most of the DVD's were very high intensity and kicked my butt. I was disappointed with the first disk ("Moves"), the primary workout was 25 minutes where you are taught a "dance" which is more like a cheer (with A LOT of clasps). She didn't count it out very well and there wasn't any music (that I could hear) to set the tempo so it was a little hard to follow, they only go through the whole dance once at the end, which was very disappointing because I would have like to have gone through it a few times to work up, at least, a small sweat. The Quick Fix workout on the other hand was much better; it is 9 minutes long and uses hand weights to work on the arms. The 2nd disk "Endurance" started out very quickly with no warm up, which I found a little unnatural to just suddenly start jumping around quickly. This DVD tired me out fairly quickly, it used a step and hand weights, and involved a lot of jumping. You repeat the same set of 5 or so moves 3 times with a small stretch at the end. She didn't allow much rest time between the sets like the other DVD's which made it kind of hard to keep up with how fast they were doing the exercises. The sweat was pouring off of me by the end. The primary workout was also 25 minutes on this disk. The Quick Fix workout was only 5 minutes but still got me sweating and out of breath, it like the next two discs was made up of moves from the primary workout. The third disc "Jump" was shorter than the others at 16 minutes; it had a very high intensity level, after doing the main and quick fix workouts (5 minutes) together, I felt like I had just gone for a good run. The next day my legs and calves were so sore from all the jumping. She spends a lot of time talking in between exercises explaining what came next (rather than just demonstrating), which was annoying but a welcome rest, she also counts differently than the countdown clock in the corner of the screen. I think the flaws with this disc can be overlooked because of the amazing workout that you get. The fourth disc "Power" is my favorite, it's longer than the other discs at 34 minutes, a little less intense, but still a great high intensity workout with a lot of fast jumping moves, I was definitely tired at the end. The Quick Fix workout was good as well, it was 6 minutes long, and definitely got me sweating The fifth disc "Stretch" was very yoga-esque and had me sweating and shaking during some of the poses. It was shorter than I was expecting at 21 minutes but adding the Quick Fix workout to it, which is only 4 minutes, makes it a little longer. The workout overall is much more laid back than the other workouts but still provided a decent challenge.
I wouldn't recommend these DVD's for someone is looking to start cheerleading for the first time because they don't really teach you any fundamentals, they do remind you to use proper form, but don't give you any lengthy instructions, so it's good for us veterans who need a little kick in the butt '. If you've done a lot of workout DVD's or have taken some classes then you'll be able to tell that the girls leading these workouts are not professionals and don't often show or remind you of proper technique, so be careful! Most of the workouts require hand weights and use a step (but I think you can still get an effective workout without one). Overall I really I love these DVD's despite some of the flaws, they provide such a good workout that I can overlook it's shortcomings. I would recommend these to any seasoned cheerleader to help get you in shape for your season, improve your overall fitness level, and/or are just looking for a fun workout. These DVD's (except for "moves) really give you a good work out and are fun to do, I highly recommend them.
