4.0 out of 5 stars pretty good, August 21, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sao Paulo Guide (BRAZIL UNIBANCO TRAVEL GUIDE) (Paperback)
This guide is excellent with its information on various neighborhoods and what is there.
It is very complete and well written and is especially valuable because it is written by Brazilians.
The information is pretty much on formal side, high end hotels and shops, museums etc. Not
much real insider information and nothing about the nitty gritty of Sao Paulo. The biggest
drawback is that while there are great maps of each section of town there is absolutely nothing
to show how they all fit together and where they lie in relationship to each other. So you will
need another map or book to put all this good information together. This was certainly a
slip up on the part of the publishers. I don't know what they could have been thinking. But
on the whole it is much better than the books from the standard guide publishers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best guidebook on Sao Paulo, January 21, 2010

This review is from: Sao Paulo Guide (BRAZIL UNIBANCO TRAVEL GUIDE) (Paperback)
This guidebook produced in Brazil, but in English, is the most useful guidebook to this vast megalopolis. I used the 2007 edition in late 2009 and it was still very accurate.

The great strength of this guidebook is that it breaks the city down into districts or neighbourhoods with lots of small maps that enable you to actually find your way about. Each district is then discussed in terms of shopping, architecture, art, food and hotels, all of which are covered in great detail.

You will still need a bigger map to put the city together, but this is the best guidebook I've found on places to go and to see.

Hard to read. No good photos. Is it possible to return it? I have it for less that a month.
