This is an excellent selection of English virginal music, played with great sensitivity and imagination by Skip Sempe. Some pieces are arranged for two or even three harpsichords - this is a fantastic sound, especially as the three instruments used are all gorgeous. The repertoire is of very high quality, and the performances do not let it down. I would give this my very top recommendation.

Desert Island Disc!, January 30, 2008
This review is from: Pavana: The Virgin Harpsichord (Audio CD)
If you own one disk of English virginal music, let this be the one. A fantastic and generous selection of pieces, a great selection of instruments (especially the virginal that is featured most prominently in these recordings!), and sublime playing (that manages to find that elusive balance between technique and heart). The consort approach to some of the pieces works very well here too. This is a beautiful, one-of-a-kind disc. It turned me on to this repertoire and to Skip Sempe.
