3.0 out of 5 stars Paved Track Stock Car Technology, January 19, 2002

This review is from: Paved Track Stock Car Technology (S239) (Paperback)
Overall this is a pretty good book. There is a lot of good basic information on setting up a car. And there are thorough explanations of all the various things that you can do to adjust the chassis to get it to do what you want it to do. However, it is mared by the section on shocks. Unfortunately, Mr. Smith's explanations of how shocks affect weight transfer are exactly backwards. You would think a guy who has been in the business as long as he has would get it right in a published book. In his book "Advanced Race Car Suspension Development", he gives all kinds of mathematical formulas to calculate almost anything. So why does weight transfer and shock absorbers apparently have him confused?
