3.0 out of 5 stars Fun
A great and interesting and fun game. It is really fun to play. At first it may take a while to get used to playing the game, but after a while you will get used to it and you will be a pro. I have to admit that after playing it for a long time it gets borring. Although its fun to play when you are bored. Be careful because its easy loosing the peices.

This is a marvelous games for young minds to learn strategy and counting with. The game is deceptively simple which makes it appropriate for fairly young kids (5+) to be able to play. However, in order to do well at this game, kids need to think ahead -- not only to set up their future moves but also to think about how to prevent their opponent from getting some easy scores.

The board size of this version is pretty much perfect. It's large enouch that the stones can't get lost yet it's ability to fold in half makes it possible to bring along as a travel game; because it folds, the game pieces can be easily stored inside. (Note: like any game with game pieces, the stones/pits can be lost. The great thing with this game is that they can be easily replaced with beach pebbles if necessary.)

This game can be entertaining for hours. And, because there is some strategy, it is also fun for adults to play. We highly recommend this game.

My son received this game for Christmas 2 years ago. He is now 14. We have had alot of fun with this game over those 2 years. We were playing it the other day and left it out when my 20 year old son and girlfriend came over. They saw it and wanted to play. We taught them how and they just couldn't stop playing it! They came over at 9:30pm and left at 2:00 a.m.. The game is a game of strategy and it's not something you have to think real hard on like chess. My 20 year old is going to buy one! He just loves it. Try it out. Min. age 8 to 100

You might be quick to ignore Mancala as you pass by the game isle of your local mega-store. After all, how fun can a game with a small board, a bunch of holes and some multi-colored gems be? Tremendous fun.

Mancala is under-rated in the gaming world, but fun to play for all ages. My daughter has been playing (and beating) Mancala with me since she was 5. While Mancala involves strategy, it is fast paced enough where the strategy does not become monotonous or repetitive.

No matter how I try to map out my future moves, my daughter still seems to beat me 33% of the time. Fun for every member of you house, from ages 5 to 105.

The quality of this product is extremely good for the price. The board is sturdy, and the glass marbles are not just cheap plastic. It is very possible for this game to last well over 20 years if taken proper care of.

I bought this game for my 12 year old son who did nothing more then play videogames. When i showed him this game he looked at it and decided it looked too simple to be fun. I asked him to play 1 time to see how it is. So he went over to his friends house about 6:00pm they started playing when they looked up to see the time it was 9:00pm. Day after day they play manacle. I myself think it is a great game and reccomond it for all ages.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Game That the Whole Family Can Play!!, November 30, 2002

This is how I would rate this game:

Familys with kids over 5: 5 stars. This is a great game for familys to play.

Family's with children under 5: 3 stars. they may or they may not get the hang of it.

Familys with toddlers: 1 star. Very small parts that are easy to choke on.

I think this game is really good for the whole family. Even though only 2 people can play it it is still a good game. I like this game because you have to think about what you are going to do next.I love Stradigy games. That's also why I like it.It is also just flat out in your face fun. If I were you I would go buy this game. I LOVE IT!!!!!

Mancala is literally one of the oldest board games in history, and it is still wildly popular among many traditional and modern cultures in the world today. Game play is simple, but consistently fun and the game is a great equalizer: it, for the most part, is the same difficulty for both kids and adults.

This convenient closing board makes it an easy game to travel with, both for children and adults. You can bring it on an airplane or play it in the backseat of your car, and its addictive qualities make for hours of fun.

My Step-son has this Mancala set and he brought it over from his Mom's house to teach me how to play one day and I wasn't sure exactly how to play but after playing it several time I got to remember that Mancala is also played in the Philippines but it's called Sungka there. The rules are pretty much the same but this game is awesome and teaches you counting and thinking skills even at my age it's good to brush up on those skills. I recommend this game and I'll probably buy my own so I can play with my husband bcuz he's a pro at this game bcuz he played when he was a child in the Philippines.

I think most peole who play this don't realize where it's origins are. The game of mancala is one of the oldest game board known in existence. The game was said to come from ancient Egypt and latter past down to other parts of Africa from there to Asia. The game exists in many other variations throughout the continent of Africa. I would recommend this to any parent who wants to teach their kid mathematics at a young age. The game can also be played by adults.
