I have bought several brands of coffee mills over many years, including Braun, Krups and Starbucks.
This is the second La Pavoni I have purchased, and I find its operation and grind results superior to any of the others.

This coffee grinder with the fancy Italian name and dubious quality is made in China. What I received has the same model number on it, but it's shaped entirely differently. Instead of being round, with dome-shaped cap as in the photo, it's a soft triangular shape.

First, the good: Good capacity, 11 cups worth of coffee beans. It's a fairly ergonomic shape, easier to hold than a large round cylinder.

The Not-so-good: Grinds beans horribly unevenly to inconsistent consistency; it doesn't create a vortex to circulate the beans back through the blades to grind them evenly. Follow the instructions and you'll end up with very finely ground coffee on the hot bottom of the grinder and huge chunks of bean everywhere else. You can take the lid off and stir the beans a few times at 15 second intervals, but how convenient is that? -- and it still won't guarantee evenly ground coffee. Lastly, there's no provision for cord storage; you have to wrap it around the outside.

After I bought this, I found a Toastmaster grinder in the grocery store for less than $10 -- and it does a MUCH better job than this La Pavoni.
