About the Author

Author and illustrator, public speaker and musician, Warren Hanson has his name some of the most beloved books in the country. He illustrated Tom Hegg's classic "A Cup of Christmas Tea," as well as four books about Peef, the colorful bear. He wrote and illustrated "The Next Place," one of the most cherished for those who grieve. Other books by Warren are "Older Love", "Kiki's Hats", "Reading With Dad", "Paw Prints in the Stars", "Today's Special", "Dear Me", and many more.

On his business card, right under Warren Hanson's name, it says "illustrator, author, amateur." As an amateur, he goes back to the word's Latin root, which means "someone who does something purely for the love of doing it. " Warren Hanson love what he does. And it shows. Warren lives with his wife Becky in Houston, Texas.

More About the Author

Warren Hanson is the author/illustrator of some of the nation's most beloved books. He continues that tradition with the release of his newest book, THE STEEPLE. With photographs of steeples from all across the country, taken by the author, and with a touching story about the constant voice that guides our way through life, this is a beautiful book, both in its appearance and in its message. And Warren's newest book for children is IT'S MONDAY, MRS. JOLLY BONES!, a very silly story about the days of the week and the household chores of each day.

Warren is well-known as the illustrator of Tom Hegg's classic A CUP OF CHRISTMAS TEA and PEEF books, as well as author and illustrator of THE NEXT PLACE, OLDER LOVE, KIKI'S HATS, PAW PRINTS IN THE STARS, TODAY'S SPECIAL, DEAR ME, and many more books that have delighted and touched both adults and children for many years.

For Kindle, Warren has published DAWN OF THE DORK, a funny mid-grade novel of getting even and growing up. Also PIANO LESSONS, a sweet and simple story of the life lessons learned from a piano teacher, including 88 "keys" for a rich and happy life. THE BOOK FARMER (A Fable for Writers) is a brief tale that describes the process of writing and publishing. THE COURAGE PRAYER has one story for Women, one for Men, one for Teen Boys and one for Teen Girls, each struggling with a tough time of life. Each story ends with a universal meditation of help and hope. And THERE'S SOMETHING FUNNY ABOUT THE NEIGHBORS is a collection of funny, touching stories about life in a small community.

Warren is an artist, writer, speaker and musician. As a popular speaker for adult groups and elementary schools, Warren has spoken at reading and literacy conferences across the country, presented programs for hundreds of church groups, volunteer banquets and other gatherings, and has enlightened and delighted tens of thousands of school children.
Warren is a native of Yankton, South Dakota. He now lives and works in Houston, Texas, with his wife Becky and their dog Scout. Find out more at www.WarrenHanson.com.

The death of a beloved pet can be just as traumatic as the loss of a family member. That's because for a great many of us, our animal companions are family. The grieving process can be just as keenly felt and in acknowledgment of this reality, Warron Hanson has authored "Paw Prints In The Stars: A Farewell And Journal For A Beloved Pet". Color photos of star images in the heavens are a perfect complement to works of memorial consolation in the printed text. Of special note are the pages set aside for the personalized addition of photos of the pet being memorialized. "Paw Prints In The Stars" is an ideal gift for anyone who has suffered the loss of a animal companion and wishes to honor their furry friend with a memorial keepsake.

I have been familiar with author Warren Hanson's works for several years, now, and his book Paw Prints in the Stars is a touching work of the loss/death of a pet. Warren has been gifted with the ability to construct exceedingly meaningful sentences and can create mental imagery like the master he is! Warren Hanson also illustrates his own books, and is a very talented artist/writer. I can certainly recommend this book, and it is a comforting reading upon the loss of or the pending loss of a beloved pet.

I lost my beloved Lucky this past January. He was almost 11 years old. Since January, I have purchased so many different books on the loss of dogs, the grieving over dogs, etc., but had nothing really to memorialize him in writing. Until Paw Prints in the Stars.

I started filling out the pages, including photos, the day I received my copy. Yes, I cried through the process; but it helped me so much to just remember his life with me, and how much we loved each other.

To anyone who has lost a much loved pet, this book is a must to help you through the grieving process. I highly recommend it for children who have experienced, for the first time especially, the loss of a loved companion.

This is such a wonderful little book that I have given it twice as a gift. It is a wonderful rememberance of 10 dogs I have in the Pet Cemetery - all older rescue dachshunds. There is room for photos and everything.

Why anyone would feel this is a child's book is beyond me. I can't express how much this book has helped me. I was a mess when my 19 year old Dachshund passed and didn't think anything would help me! My Mom bought me this book but I didn't read it for days thinking it would make me cry even more. Much to my surprise when I did read it it brought me great comfort! I have read it many more times whenever I am very sad about loosing him. It makes me think more about all that we did together over 19 years than just about having to make the decision to put him down.

When I bought this book for my Media Center the expectation was that it was for upper elementary students (grades 3,4,and 5). But then I read it to a first grade class. The para was in tears, the kids were rapt, and when the story was finished everyone wanted to tell about the animal(s) that were important in their lives. Some had died, others were still alive, but they all had tremendous impact on these young lives. Now I read it to anybody and everybody - when it isn't checked out.
