After 30 days. This is a great hammock...seems small at first but it very comfortable holds my wife and I at the same time. We've literally fallen asleep for a couple hours while listing to music as the dusk turns to night. Oatmeal color hides stains. Duracord is soft to the touch and dries quickly after rain. Haven't had critter issues yet. Weaving looks nice and appears durable. Stretch is adequate without becoming a problem. Steel and wood pieces are nicely finished...overall a terrific and relaxing addition to our yard.

Absolutelty top-notch. I left it out in rain, shine and fog for 6 months now. Don't have the energy to get it inside each time it rains (and oh boy, did it rain this summer in Dallas!). Each time sun shines back, my hammock is as great-feeling, as shiny and as taut as new. This weekend I had a party in my backyard, and my guests turned on the rough heat a little bit - they were even using it as a swing, three adults at a time. I was a little concerned, but at the end it was as if nothing happened. Kind of the feeling you get after you complete your first cross-state long drive with your Honda or Toyota - you are concerned whether your car is OK, but that trip was not even as much as a dent on its mind-boggling robust engineering. Pawleys rocks!

Mine and my wife's inexperience at the beginning resulted in a very scarily tangled up knot - all the hammock's ropes seemed to be tied to evry other piece of rope and passing through every other hole. But we slept on ot for a night, and gave it another shot next day. An intricate amount of mathematical calculations saved the day, and the hammock was straight again. It was us to blame in the first place - be careful to handle the hammock the right way. While rolling up, use the wood bars at the ends as anchor. Do not try fancy styles or get inattentive while rolling it up or down.

Having had Pawleys Island Hammocks before, I was glad to see the addition of the Dura Cord product line. I was a little apprehensive about the "feel" of the new material, but it is actually nicer than the old cotton one, and looks beautiful. Average lifetime of the cotton was about 4 years for us when left out all the time, so we will see about this one, but I trust the brand, so assume it will be better.

A great hammock! The antique brown color is perfect because it doesn't show dirt or marks as easilly as a white hammock would. It's a very comfortable hammock and fits very well on a hammock stand. My husband loved this as a birthday gift! If you are expecting rain, do take it inside as it takes quite awhile to dry out.

First, I've got to say that I've been buying Pawley's Island Hammocks exclusively for the past 30 years. I don't know how many I've bought over the years, but it is upward of 10 as we always have 2 active hammocks at home and 2 in our camper when we were still camping.
I just replaced a worn out oatmeal cotton cord (after 8 years of use, so it was time) with this Duracord Antique Brown.
Received it yesterday and hung it and spent a couple of hours test swinging it today.
PROS:
I love the brown color, though it is much darker than the picture. It really goes well with the oak trees it hangs from.
The Duracord is much softer than expected and if it performs better than the cotton cord in the South Carolina humidity I will be thrilled. Mildew has always been a problem here.
The weave quality is top notch with the ends of the cords all fused well.
CON:
Only 1, but it is a big one. The spreader bars are not bent at all, though the product description claims they are.
To my old body, the old bars with the visible curve, feels much more comfortable. I've compared it with the old one and there is no curve at all in the new one. It just doesn't allow the net to wrap the shoulders the way the old ones do. I really wish I could just have my old bars rewoven. I will keep this one but will try to palm it off on my Husband and I will use his older one!
When the next replacement is needed I will look at other options, something I haven't done in 30 years.

All in all this is a good hammock, but it is not the great hammock it once was.

Well worth the asking price. I was impressed by the quality of the rig right out of the box. The wood slats appear to be very solid with zero warping and a nice smooth finish. The packaging was perfectly simple, honestly I don't see why any elaborate padding would ever be necessary. I opened up one end of the box, slid it out onto the lawn. I was then able to roll out the hammock between the two trees I had in mind (completely tangle-free), set up the eyebolts (included), hook each end, then adjust the stretch to exactly where I wanted it (a fair amount of chain is included for adjustment). Ridiculously simple and easy.

The hammock itself is amazingly comfortable in no small part due to the DuraCord material. I couldn't tell it was synthetic. It feels just like cotton or similar natural fiber. Against skin it doesn't chafe or otherwise irritate, it's actually very soft, imo.

I can't comment on its durability since I've only had it up for a month, but it is used a couple times on weekends, although not so much on weekdays. The better half likes to curl up and read in it and is perfectly content to spend a fair chunk of time just relaxing.

Excellent value for less than $120! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this versus the cheaper and less expensive hammocks out there. I really feel like I did get what I paid for.

I bought this hammock well over a year ago. While the manufacturer doesn't recommend it, I leave it out in the weather year round. Summer sun in Florida can be brutal. It's held up very well and maintained its green color without noticable fading. It's as comfortable as a cotton rope hammock with the durability of nylon, just as advertised.

Review edit - 1.5 - 1.75 years of ownership:
I purchased the Duracord model thinking it would hold up well if left outside. While the hammock itself has held up very well, the spreader bars did not. After only 1.5 - 1.75 years, the hammock roping looks just as it did when I bought it. However, BOTH of the spreader bars have essentially disintigrated and split completely in two in multiple locations. This renders the hammock itself useless. Pawleys Island needs to consider a different composition material for the spreader bars which will hold up as well as the roping itself. If you're thinking you're getting a hammock that will hold up well left outside and provide years of service, save your money and buy a cheaper cotton or polyester version.

I would now only rate this hammock with 2 stars.

This hammock is my idea of a perfect Recreational Vehicle: it rocks me gently when I tear myself away from summertime chores and read to the gentle swaying, occasionally peering up through the tangle of apple tree branches to glimpse a patch of cloudless blue sky. And talk about fuel efficiency! It's good-looking, allows for extra passengers, and will transport me to anywhere I want to go without leaving home.

I received a Pawley's Island hammock as a gift in July, 2009 (birthday). It was the new DuraCord version. It was comfortable but the rope deteriorated and broke by August of 2010, just one month past the one year warranty, and was not in a place where it could be retied. My previous hammocks made from the traditional cotton rope have lasted 4-6 years on average. I think they have some work to do on the duraCord product!

What a perfect way to spend a lazy summer afternoon...lounging in a comfy hammock with a glass of iced-tea. (Heavy sigh)...that's exacly how I spent my first weekend once I got my hammock set up. The rope that the hammock is made of is a very soft cotton-like material. The rope doesn't dig into my skin or scratch me. I love it!
