Product Description

Your pet will find it easy for him/her to get out of the water and back aboard your vessel. This unique dog boat ramp can be attached and removed in seconds and includes a universal grip that fits almost all boat ladders with three or more steps. The Doggy Boat Ladder is an excellent choice for use with arthritic, older, or overweight pets. It provides an easy exit, so your pet reduces the risk of seriously straining or injuring joints. Measures 16-inch by 64-inch and folds in half for easy storage. Note: ladders over 14-inch wide will require the extension piece.

We bought this product to use on our pontoon boat so that our 70-lb. labradoodle could get back on the boat after swimming. It works okay when there is someone at the foot of the ladder to guide her feet so that she doesn't slip off the side, but I tried to send her down it alone, and her foot slipped between the ladder and the boat so that she was hanging by one back leg. I recommend the product when there are two people to help guide the dog, but be aware that, for a large dog at least, there are some safety questions, since the ladder is quite narrow.

The ladder was definitely NOT made for large dogs (90 lbs). The steps are way too small. My dog's paw barely fit on one of the steps. I will say that returning it and getting some of my money back (they subtracted shipping and handling) was relatively quick. Bummed it didn't work.

This pet ladder has problems. I purchased it back in April mainly based on the video and the price. We have a 60 lb lab and have used the ladder about 5 times. The ladder is not easy to open especially when on a boat. It is hard to attach to your boat ladder -- it takes two people my husband in the water holding it and me trying to wrap the velcro ties around the ladder without getting my hands pinched between our boat ladder and the ramp to propery install. Once in the water and attached my dog can get back into the boat with ease. It is just as awkward to fold up and get back in you boat -- definitely not a 1-2-3 operation. The side clips that keep the two parts of the ladder/ramp extended are hard to get into thir specific holes a very frustrating process. However since our dog was able, once we got it installed (a process of at least 10 minutes) to get back on board easily we thought perhaps we would get faster with usage. When we went to use the ramp yesterday we noticed that it was sitting unusally low in the water and discovered that a float had fallen off plus a bracket was missing from the armature that holds the ramp away from the boat. This product has been a great disappointment.

After an initial failure to get the product to work, i tried some personal modifications and now all is well. I added non slip pads to the steps and used a couple of bungee cords to strap product to ladder to get it to work. Now both dogs, one 65 lbs and puppy 20 lbs can use on their own.

Our kids have 2 corgis that love the water, got them this ladder last summer for vacation. They can get in the boat with ease. worth every penny we paid. Now they have their own way in the boat and are not constantly at the ladder wanting in. Steps are close together but its perfect for them.

We bought this ladder for our labrador-hound mix lady (55 lbs).
After understanding how to mount and fix the ladder it worked very fine.
Best if you can stand in the water for mounting - a little bit tricky if you can't stand or if you do it from inside the yacht.
But it worked.
The onyl criticism from my side: Because there are not all original parts of stainless steel there was rust on nearly any screw after the first use in salt water instead of rinsing the ladder each time with sweet water.
So it will be necessary to replace all screws, nuts and washers by those made of stainless steel.
Next year we will test the new configuration and hope that rust will be past.

I have bought 2 of these trying to make it work. However, the construction is poor - the pegs to use to keep the 2 sections extended break or pop out. The hard plastic, small steps and vertical pitch do not work for my 2 goldens. I still have to guide them from the transom to get a grip. As far as installing it - not great either. One person has to be in the water and the other above it to help keep it straight. The velcro straps are tough to attach to the swim ladder. Also when you finally do get the ladder attached through the day you'll need to tighten the straps, as the water will loosen it with little waves.

To really build a ladder for larger dogs I have found they need to be stairs with carpet that is deep enough to let the dog pull itself out. We have a 3055 Bayliner, so the distance between the water and transom is about 18", more distance than a bow rider. We also boat on the Potomac river, so the current causes an issue as well as little waves. The ladder sits in the attic, so don't waste your money. They is more product development needed before this is a recommended product for larger dogs with larger boats.

The ladder did not function well at all. One part broke as soon as our lab tried to come out of the water. Did not attach well at all. I had to sew and make straps with snap buckles to motifey the ladder to work as it should. I would not purchase one of this unless you are willy to make ajustments yourselve.
