4.0 out of 5 stars Pax is mostly cool., December 9, 1998

This is a really good empire building game and being able to play a game of this complexity in real time is really new and fun. However, the game does suffer on the combat screens, it's difficult to control your fleets and comabts can be painfully long and frequent. And computer AI can be pretty stupid, however you can play multiplayer Mac vs. PC which is really cool. It is also fairly easy to manage your empire when it grows to a large size, where games like Civ II begin to bog down. This game is very addictive and you can play it for hours and hours at a time.

This review is from: Pax Imperia: Eminent Domain: The Official Strategy Guide (Prima's Secrets of the Games) (Paperback)
Pax Imperia: Eminent Domain is a real time 4x space strategy game that is infinitely replayable. One of the most enjoyable PC games I have ever played. Designed for Windows 95, it WILL run on XP and Vista.

This book is an excellant guide to all aspects of the game Pax Imperia: Eminent Domain.

Especially helpful sections were:

The tips for selecting planets for colonization.

Various attributes of the races and strategies as and against them.

Creating a custom species.

Tips for effective ship design.

Multiplayer game strategies.

Recommended if you want to thoroughly familiarize yourself with the game.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad if you are trying to find help with the immpossible., June 23, 1998

Pasting real time gameplay on to worn out Cliches spells emenant disaster for this far reaching strategy game. This is a woefully inadequate milieu for something that aspires to be an epic. If you want a real strategy game with a decent guide, Buy Civilization II.
