I considered this album overall enjoyable, just like I enjoyed most albums by Culture. On the other hand, I doubt whether this is the best album by Culture, but it does not stay really behind on their other albums. Many songs have that lively style with uplifting chanting which I can appreciate, but are somewhat - how can I put it - simpler, less elaborated, than on other albums. The chanting style, and Joseph Hill's sort of free style singing and talking adds that extra quality. The music is the lively, rootsy reggae style, also found on other Culture albums, but some songs ('War in Sierra Leone', 'Cape coast to Ja') have a somewhat distinct drum-based music, which doesn't sound bad.A weak point is that some parts of the album are, here and there, somewhat monotonous.

Chicken titty,

My favorite album to date from Joseph Hill & Culture. Very heartfelt and sometimes humorous content, what with, a song titled "Chicken titty". There is an interesting variety of musical genres thrown in the reggae melting pot, from guitar rock licks, children's nursery rhymes played beautifully with simple ukulele picking to soulful blues harp rhythms. This release was covered by the great Dub artist "Scientist" titled, Scientist Dubs Culture into a parallel universe. Overall the rhythms of this record have stuck with me more than other releases from Culture. Granted, this is not as heavy politically and socially as earlier albums, but the mix, for me, is well rounded and enticing. You no like, then "stop ya whine'n" like Joseph say.
