I see you have reviews on mobile credit card readers and wanted to share a recent experience with the Pay Anywhere.
We signed up for an account, providing bank statements etc. We were easily approved.
Pay Anywhere sent us their card reader, we ran a `test' transaction of three cents. It processed quickly and successfully.
When it came time for us to process a real transaction in the amount of $6500, the transaction was processed by Pay Anywhere - the customer's credit card was charged. The customer and ourselves where sent a confirmation receipt from the Pay Anywhere system.
A few days later, Pay Anywhere sent us an email stating the transaction had been flagged for underwriting and we needed to provide them our banks statements, the customer invoice. We did so immediately, additionally including the customer's contact information and the photo of his drivers license we took at the time of the transaction. In the day and age of identity theft and credit card fraud, we understood the reason for the request.
Pay Anywhere stated it would take 2-4 days to process. We checked back with our customer to see if his credit card showed the charge was reflected on his transactions. It was.
We contact Pay Anywhere again - and are now being told they are not going to release the funds for 180 days. (Yes, that's 6 months!) For a startup business - that's a killer on our cash flow.
When asking why the hold - NOW they say we are too much risk because there is not `enough activity on the banks statements'.
We explained we are a startup business, and that all the documentation was sent, approved and the transaction was not prevented by their system to reflect this `risk'. Pay Anywhere then got very nasty and stated it was in our contract.Read more ›
The Android app worked great on my Galaxy SIII. It even has a test mode where you can try out all the features without actually setting up an account or having the reader. I really do like the app and its inventory functionality. I tested it some more when I got the actual card reader to plug in. This also worked very well.
I charged two of my own credit cards $1 to test it out and see how the charge came through. Everything seemed to work to my satisfaction, so I tried it out with real customers the next day. I only sold a handful of $20 items, grossing under $200 for the day. I only used it this one day because I wanted to make sure the funds got into my account within the stated 1-2 business days before continuing to use it. Good thing I thought this, because it took two weeks to find out they put a hold on my funds without notifying me, and I had to contact them to remove it. They still never ended up telling me why there was a hold, but I eventually got my money and decided I would not use them again. I will be using PayPal's "PayPal Here" reader and app instead, since although they are not my favorite company either, I feel my odds of avoiding hassle are greater with PayPal, and I've never had them hold my funds before.
It is also worth noting the $10 credit promotion has fine print involved. Don't expect to get this $10 credit for purchasing the reader, I didn't.Read more ›
noone can help me from customer service,i called and e-mail and every time i am getting a delay or no response.
I am now using SQUARE, excellent product and i got my fund transfer into my bank everyday.
I requested an increase in limits and the email I got back was poorly phrased and don’t make requirements clear, I had a three day delay because they said they may ask for a document. They never asked for it just expected me to send it. My first interaction with the chat system listed the wrong business hours and disconnected me when it was stated to be open but were not really.
The first support person I talked to lied to me and told me the competition doesn't have a customer service line. I didn't know that I never needed it. (It was a lie they do have one and they were helpful.) It has taken days to get any sort of response which has slowed my ability to do business and take payments. When requirements were finally made clear I was asked to email or fax my bank statements. I don’t own or use a fax machine anymore and haven’t for the last decade. Tech suggested I go out and pay Kinko’s or someone else to fax it for me. Would you want to give your bank statements to strangers to fax? Email isn’t secured or offer an encryption option. So the bank statement request is protection for you but not for the merchant. It would be trivial to put an upload button on the secure site to upload a document that is requested.
The second support tech was kind and tried to be helpful but wasn’t really able to do much or advance the issue. Finally they raised my limit but to a lower limit than what my transactions with you are likely to be. Finally I was promised $5,000 in free transactions to start off and that didn't happen either.
