4.0 out of 5 stars Studio sound on a live recording
If you're thinking about buying this CD, then you are probably already a POD fan, so I don't need to tell you that this album is hard, loud music. Some live albums (especially ones that are recorded before a band breaks into the big time, as this one was) can be less-than acoustically great, but this live album sounds so good it could have been recorded in a studio...

1.0 out of 5 stars Why did I buy this CD?
Because I was in highschool and thought, for some odd reason, that a band sounding mediocre in studio would sound good live. Only for EXTREME fans.

If you're thinking about buying this CD, then you are probably already a POD fan, so I don't need to tell you that this album is hard, loud music. Some live albums (especially ones that are recorded before a band breaks into the big time, as this one was) can be less-than acoustically great, but this live album sounds so good it could have been recorded in a studio.

The benefit of listening to this album is that you get to hear the energy that POD has in their live performances, as well as what they say when they're on stage. You get a really good feel for who POD is as a band, and who the musicians are as people and as Christians. (And I really don't think it's all that preachy, actually).

POD Live was recorded in 1997 at Tomfest in Stevenson, Washington, so if you got on the POD fanwagon recently, you won't know any of these songs... but that's not a bad thing, right? If you need to expand your POD (or hardcore) collection, then this would be a good album to consider.

4.0 out of 5 stars They way they used to be, May 4, 2003

Ok, so technically I don't own this CD. I own the original release of P.O.D. live back when it had 10 songs on it. Add the fact that it's signed and you've got a rare one. It was done before P.O.D.'s rise to fame. After their sudden success, this was cleaned up, repackaged, and re-released.
But anyways. This CD is definitly a must for any fan of P.O.D. looking to see what their roots were like. I perfectly shows the raw aggression they have with their music on stage. For those who don't know what Tomfest is, (where this was recorded) Tomfest is probably the best Christian Hard Rock music festival held every year. With so many great bands out there I feel this CD perfectly captures why P.O.D. has always been considered one of, if not the best bands out.
One listen and you can tell this isn't like other "live" albums where the crowd is boosted, or the parts where they sing off key are dubbed over to create a better "live" experience for the listener. It shows how through the occational technicallity, P.O.D.'s members are incredible musicians who put their all into each performance.
As to why I only gave it four stars, I had to dock a star due to the deletion of the number 10 track, "Murder." Sure, I know the public masses might be a little shocked to hear P.O.D. playing a song that starts off with them chanting "Abortion is murder..." over and over. I can understand why they'd take it off the re-release. However, this is who P.O.D. was. This is part of their history. I was hoping P.O.D. would've stuck to their guns and kept it on. But, still a great album.
With or without the last track, this is still a must have album. Few live albums are even worth buying. This is an exception.
Nowdays P.O.D. has to mask themselves with spiritual vagueness which I understand. With the way MTV and radio is, anything remotely Christian is filtered out. Every now and then I love putting this CD on and hearing P.O.D. before all that mattered. They're great now, and they were great then. Pick this CD up and find out for yourself.

This CD is a must have for any P.O.D. fan or even any Rock fan in general. I play it all the time and it shows how great P.O.D. is live unlike alot of bands that sound good on the CD but then when it comes for a live performance sound horrible. I'm suprised people would let go of their copies of this for such a low price, it's a 5 star cd peoples! Do yourself a favor and buy it, you won't be dissapointed.

Payble on Death live is a great CD. It doesn't have any cuss words on it so people of all ages can by it. It is new alternitave rock and gives you a real dose of reallity. P.O.D. is a cristian band that sings about all the terible things that happens to the victim(s) and the victims family.

Being the most devoted P.O.D. fan on the planet, i am the only person i know who can actually say that they own every single one of P.O.D.'s albums...all 6. This one I got because Full Color is the best song I've ever laid ears on...and now I've heard 3 versions of it. Their live performance was actually sort of moving, and the fact that the crowd knew most of the song lyrics shows how devoted P.O.D. fans are. "Why did my mommy have to die?"

5.0 out of 5 stars very nice :), October 29, 2002

I likes this Cd. I like POD. THey sorta go together. THey get so much energy it stinks that there isn't a lyrics sheet. But you can get the lyrics at theshouthtown.com so it's all good. This is raw. I seems like it was done on the brown tour. (i am getting that album). It only has one song from snuff de Punk. Witch is a awsom album. The audio is undoutible LIVE but thats what it says on the cover if you don't like it go buy 1 of there many studio releses. FEOS and Satillite are a little polished for my tast. they have some good songs but the mixing doesn't do justice to them . In cfact the only CD that does do justice to them in a studio is Warriors EP (out a print dangit). THey are christian but they don't need any definding they flat out rock. THis CD shows they flat out rock live to. It is only 30 minuts but hey short & sweet. If you are reading this revieve you probubly might buy it. Do yourself a favour and do it. It is a awsom CD. WEll that is aw I have to say if you like e'm in the studio you will like e'm live. Since i don't want to go to ozz fest i getr to hear 'em live. TOP FORM

Jah people ride on...

Check it out...if you like the band, you'll like the live album...right? If you're a die-hard Backstreet Boys fan, you'll enjoy the live Backstreet Boys album. Same goes here. I'm about as big of a P.O.D. fan as they get, so I'm obviously gonna dig this. I haven't even heard this album yet; just ordered it today. I can tell you, though, that I will love the CD. The choice is yours. Don't go out and buy a live CD of a band and expect the best recording and flawless quality. In my opinion live CD's are for the fans that totally love the band and not the polished studio stuff. Check out P.O.D. They rock for the right reason. Peace

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Lord This Is The CD Of Heaven, August 19, 2002
This review is from: Payable On Death Live (Audio CD)
Payable On Death (POD) is and always will be my favorite band. They got me started liking every kind of music I do today and I own every single CD they have produced, yes even The Warriors EP. Now that was hard to find. And This is my favorite cd. Anyway, this cd will give anyone the feeling of being at a concert and feeling the same things you would if you were seeing Sonny and the gang in person. I've been to many of POD concerts and I just cant get enough of them. This is the ultimate cd for any POD fan. Or if you are going to check out the band and want to buy a cd this is the one beaucse you will be hooked for life and become a fiend-ish collector like me. In the long run BUY THIS CD. [hopefully this is what heaven sounds like]

5.0 out of 5 stars Like everyone has said..., May 9, 2002
This review is from: Payable On Death Live (Audio CD)
this is probably a cd that is more geared toward avid P.O.D. fans. It's an awesome cd, no doubt, but it does sound a bit rougher (hence live) but definatley captures the effect of how they really sound in concert. If you enjoy Dogwood, Russel comes on and helps Sonny out as well as some shout-outs to Project 86. I would not tell someone to not buy this cd first, as it is an awesome part of their collection, but if you're looking for a cleaner taste of what they sound like out of a studio, then I would say go ahead and buy F.E.O.S.T. or Satellite. If you like harder stuff then go with Brown of Snuff the Punk, or if you can get your hands on it, The Warriors EP. They also have several singles and promo cd's in addition to their mainline stuff. God bless...
