Praise for Wahida Clark's Payback with Ya Life:

''My girl delivered gangsta-style and I'm loving every page! It's a must-read and most definitely deserves a 5! Great job, Wahida!'' --Urban Reviews --This text refers to the MP3 CD edition.

About the Author

Since being named Queen of Thug Lit by Nikki Turner, New York Times bestselling author Wahida Clark has cemented her position as the leader in her genre with both of her bestselling Thug and Payback series. Her work has become the template for other writers who try to imitate her compelling blend of intrigue, passion, and luxury with the often-violent realities of life on the streets.

More About the Author

Wahida Clark was born and raised in Trenton, New Jersey. She decided to start writing fiction while incarcerated at a women's federal camp in Lexington, KY. Her style is street, raw, and she has an imagination that's in overdrive. When you read her novels they are so real you are convinced of one of three things: that you are inside the book, you know the characters, or you just have to meet them. Her novels include New York Times and Essence Magazine Bestsellers:Thugs And The Women Who Love Them, Every Thug Needs A Lady, Thug Matrimony, Thug Lovin', Justify My Thug, Payback is A Mutha, Payback With Ya Life, Sleeping With the Enemy and What's Really Hood.
Wahida now owns and operates the most popular and fastest growing urban independent publishing house in the industry: Wahida Clark Presents Publishing (www.wclarkpublishing.com) in East Orange, New Jersey.

This book was good I never saw the ending coming with Shan and Briggen I hope there is another book so we can find out if Briggen gets back at Shan.

Next book, she needs to tone it down a bit cause it seemed like the book jumped from scene to scene too much which made it a little confusing.

Wahida Clark is like fine wine; she gets better over time, bolder in character, a sinful delight, and an acquired taste.

Shan FOOLED us all, most importantly Briggen as this naive lady w/ no street knowledge. During her transformation mentally and physically to get from under Briggens spell, she was like her best friend Brianna reincarnated. She was only out for self, her new business, and unfortintely even neglected her child.

There were so many jaw dropping moments....None might I add that you saw coming. This left a lot of questions and confusing plots, some just came put of left field.

Out of all Briggens ex's, Shan screwed him over the worst of all. Yeah he did some foul things but nothing to justify her scandalous ways. But to see who Shan leaves with is baffling, she will learn the lesson of her stupidity the hardest way possible.

Lastly, Why would Briggen be leaving w/ Sharia? When did they reunite?
Mia was Briggens ride or die chick showing is proving and that she did. There has to be one last book to this series to answer all the questions that this book left us die hard fans with......

Allow me to start by stating that I read and own all of Ms. Clark's book she is without a doubt my favorite author, I love her story lines, and I always fall in love with one of the characters. This book Payback Ain't Enough was a good read but not one of my favorite books- there are too many story lines and a plethora of unanswered questions the readers will be left with. Someone of the characters part were so short and insignificant to the story line of THIS book you wonder why is this person included. In my opinion this book left too many loose strings untied and is seemingly unfinished. I believe there will be another book but that book would have to tie up all of the loose strings from this book- and there are a lot of them. I'm disappointed with this book because it ended without any closer for the reader. Granted I understand leaving the reader with some unanswered questions and in anticipation but speaking for myself I was left confused. All in all I will still buy the next book that Ms. Clark releases; I'm just not satisfied with this book or the way it ended.

Well...I was excited about this book because I read the other two in the series. First, I have to say that this series was not as good as the Thug series. Second, although the first two books in this series were pretty good this newest book gets a big thumbs down. Like other posters said it was all over the place. Conversations did not fit/flow, most of it just did not make sense. It was like she just kept writing to fill up the pages. I wonder if she even wrote the book. I am confused as heck. There are also really good reviews (5-4 star) which means that those posters do not look for story flow and consistency or they are some of her people trying to boost ratings. Now, I have read The Letter and The Response and those seemed like real Wahida teasers :), and I think I'll stick with the Thug series because this book just is not worth the 9.99 I spent. Tip: Borrow the book don't pay for it!!! Sorry Wahida...but when you start with putting out fire you can't end with putting out embers -actually this book didn't even spark :(

Ms. Wahida always manages to shock me and this story was no different. I must say that the story took an entirely different direction that what i expected. But forgive me if I'm still confused by a few things. Shan's actions? It's like she was never really invested in her relationship. it took one lie for her to make another move. There were too many characters and some of them needed less air time. Like i could care less about Janay, Dark, and a few other characters. I wanted to know more about Briggen and Shan's relationship, but everytime things were getting juicy Wahida would take me back to one od those irrelevant characters that really lacked substance. I will say that there were several times that i was very much enthralled with Shan and Briggen. Can you say DRAMA? Still there were a few unanswered questions, so I'm sure there will be yet another installment. and i hope that the next story has more details about the main charaters instead of all the sub-plots. I want to know the Shan-Briggen-Nick thing in great detail, so that i can decide who she belongs with. Because right now I just dont know. Briggen has f*ed up a little, but honestly i was expecting that from him. Hell, he wasnt picture perfect in the last book. Shan just finnaly got herself a backbone, but I still Want to read about her AND Briggen!

First let me start by saying I have read plenty or all of this authors books, so I give props when they are due. This book was all over the place meaning you didnt know what was going on. To many characters with plots and you not knowing who or what to follow. you couldnt connect with anyone because you would loose yourself along the way. you would think you were catching on or getting a grip only to get lost again. I can honestly say by the time I finished reading this book the only thing that came to mind was WTF..not worth the money...should have been a 99 cent book
