Revenge Is Sweet,
By
This review is from: Payback (Revenge of the Sisterhood) (Hardcover)
The Sisterhood is at it again and the revenge will be even sweeter then it was in Fern's First book Weekend Warriors.
To the outside world Dr.Julia Webster is married to a senator who has given Julia a "gift" that is going to change her life fovever. The mission the sisterhood has to accomplish is not easy but seeking revenge will give them the stregnth and courage they need to prevail in the mission. The book is FANTASTIC and once you start you will be hooked until the very last page. Now we have to sit back and wait for the next mission.

JUSTICE IS ENTERTAININGLY SERVED,
This review is from: Payback (Sisterhood Series) (MP3 CD)
Laural Merlington proffered an aces reading of "Weekend Warriors," the first novel in Fern Michaels's celebrated Sisterhood series. She delivers again with a robust, easy to listen to telling of what these seven dauntless women are up to now. Many will recall that the women are bonded not only by deep friendship but also by a desire to right wrongs. And, when this group gets together over sparkling iced tea and shrimp fritters, someone better look out. In "Payback" that someone is Julia Webster's husband, a U.S. Senator. Turns out that the politico isn't all his press office says he is. Julia has suspected this for a bit, realizing that her partnership with him has advanced his career to the detriment of her own. But, now that she knows he's also a philanderer it's time for revenge. In her case revenge will be mighty sweet. The cast of characters becomes even more endearing with the second in Michaels's series, especially Charles, who is not only Myra's lover but also a gourmet cook, and Isabelle who is blessed with psychic powers. Justice has never been so entertainingly done - give a listen. - Gail Cooke

This review is from: Payback (Zebra Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
The Sisterhood is back for their second search for justice for their members who have been denied by the system. Julie Webster is a high-profile doctor who is facing a death sentence administered by her philandering husband. For her there can be no justice, she has lost her career and may lose her life to AIDS.
As Julie grows weaker and more fragile from the disease her friends, through the financial help of Myra Rutledge search for other mates in U.S. Senator Mitchell Webster's extramarital affairs, so they can be warned to seek help. He is being considered as a vice-presidential running mate when The Sisterhood extract their payback. Fern Michaels' "Payback" is a sharp read, with twists and turns for late night and beach enjoyment. Nash Black, author of "Qualifying Laps" and "Taxes, Stumbling Blocks & Pitfalls for Authors, 2007.

Lighten up,
By library lady (CT, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Payback (Zebra Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
After reading a lot of the reviews on "Payback", I think many of the readers missed the point. This is a 'just for fun story' (fiction), fairy tale, I enjoyed every minute of the read. Different from the usual trivia. Looking forward to more.

Payback by Fern Michaels,

In order to understand Payback and other books in this series,
You have to put yourself into the shoes of the characters who have been failed by the Justice System. If you had the money to correct such a travesty, what would you do? Fern's series of Weekend Warriors is not for the usual romantic fiction reader. If you want sweet romance, go elsewhere. If you want excitement, fun, sense of belonging to a special "family" and revenge even when you have to give up what you want for the good of the group, then by all means enjoy this series. Someone else reviewed this series after reading one book... that's not possible and the books are not "disjointed." The series is for serious, adult, educated, highly functional adults!

Funny Tale of Revenge,
This review is from: Payback (Zebra Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
This second installment of The Sisterhood series does not disappoint. In fact, this one gives us two "paybacks" to enjoy. I agree with one reviewer who said, "lighten up!" These books are fiction, fun, escapist reading. Could they really happen? Probably not, but it still is fun to imagine. To get the full benefit, read Weekend Warriors first.

So what is right and what is wrong?,
By
This review is from: Payback (Zebra Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
The book's story'll keep you reading but at the end when the bad guys are seen as good guys and vice versa you'll be disappointed. I know that sometimes the bad guys had to win but in this book this people would never be caught and the writer wants us to think that their job is the correct one. This is the second book of the series that I read and I'm not willing to read anymore unless someone give it to me.

If you are looking for the "romance" Fern Michaels, this series of books (sisterhood) is not for you. Very bold violence. Made me really stop and think about revenge and vengence.

This book is the second of a series of Sisterhood books. They are a quick read and usually good. I say usually, because you have to put your Christian morals aside and go with the idea of revenge and retribution. They are somewhat graphic, but not gory. The Sisterhood is all about justice prevailing - even if the law isn't on your side.

A TWO-PRONGED MISSION,
By
This review is from: Payback (Zebra Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
In this second book of the Sisterhood series, the women take on the mission of righting injustices done to Julia Webster, a doctor infected with the HIV virus by her philandering husband Mitch, a senator.Julia's mission is two-pronged in Payback (Zebra Romance). In addition to making Mitch pay, she also wants to punish a greedy HMO that sentences patients "to death" by denying claims for treatment. Again, technologically savvy Charles Martin's expertise is critical to the success of the plan that unfolds over the next several chapters. There are some other wrongs to right along the way, too; the women must somehow halt a nosy DA (Nikki's ex-fiance) who threatens their goals by following them, stalking them, and trying to hinder their efforts. Some of the details of the plans were quite complex and took sheer genius to bring about. And yes, it was fun to see the "bad guys" getting their just desserts. But enough is enough. After reading the first book in the series (Weekend Warriors) and others that are later in the series, I think I'm done with these books. I enjoy other books by this author a lot more. I'm giving this one three stars. |
