5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent
Payne Stewart was a class act. When he was taken from us, the world lost much more than just another professional golfer.

This book gives a hauntingly picturesque view of Payne's life. It is meticulously accurate, and is a very great book to have on your shelf. You will not regret a read-through of this.

Good-bye Payne, me miss you . . .

2.0 out of 5 stars They couldn't tell the whole picture
It is very sad that Payne Stewart was taken from us. His incredibly dramatic win at Pinehurst and his final putt will be a moment that will be imprinted in our minds forever. This book falls far short, however, of being complete, and I am not sure why it was written in the first place. Most insider's in the media world didn't really care for him, as he was as wild,...

This review is from: Payne Stewart: The Authorized Biography (Hardcover)
the best biography of the year. what a wonderful tribute to the life of payne stewart. this book truly captured the real payne stewart, unlike the other books that have been published by so called friends..if you never had the privilege of knowing payne stewart you will feel as if you did after reading this book. i know this had to be difficult for tracey to write, but what a gift this is to her children and to all of payne's friends, and fans. we all miss him very much. thanks tracey for sharing with all the story of the real payne stewart. a loving husband, a wonderful father, a great friend, and brother in christ. he will never be forgotten

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best biographies of the year!, June 6, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Payne Stewart: The Authorized Biography (Hardcover)
The Payne Stewart biography authored by the late golfer's widow is one of the most moving, inspiring biographies I've read. More than just a sports book, or a book about a celebrity--the life and legacy of Payne Stewart, on and off the course, comes shining through. Each page reinforces the reasons why this story deserved to be told. Tracey Stewart describes her husband with candor and realism, tempering the emotion of her loss with the rock-solid assurance her faith provides that Payne is at peace.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Important Side of the Story, June 6, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Payne Stewart: The Authorized Biography (Hardcover)
I'm amazed that readers (at least those who wrote negative reviews on this web site) would be surprised that Tracey's story about Payne is upbeat and positive. If readers want Larry Guest's National Enquiresque forced muckraking (the same treatment he gave Arnold Palmer, a breach of trust that banished him from insider camps) then they should look elsewhere. This is a wife's tribute to a husband, father, and friend she loved. It's a great book that admirers of Payne will enjoy for its intimacy and candidness.

Thanks to Tracey for mustering the courage to put it down on paper. We all miss Payne very much.

5.0 out of 5 stars A MOVING AND LOVING TRIBUTE - A MUST READ FOR EVERYONE, June 2, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Payne Stewart: The Authorized Biography (Hardcover)
In deference to a previous reviewer, the spirit of this book is anything but an attempt to cash in on Payne. This is a loving tribute by Tracey to a man she obviously adored. I was very moved by the final chapters and the story of his daughter looking forward to her date with daddy. This is a significant book about a man whose life made a difference.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reflection of a Hero, July 18, 2000

Undoubtably the best book I've ever read!

Tracy Stewart allows us to take a look at the inside life of Payne. From their first glance across a crowded room when Payne knew he was, "going to marry that girl", to the heartrenching funeral that brought us all closer to God through the life of Payne Stewart, whose death was not in vain.

It's wonderful to see not only the professional side of this fallen hero but look into his family and spiritural life as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Sports Biography, June 8, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Payne Stewart: The Authorized Biography (Hardcover)
This book, which is already a national bestseller, has been researched with the full cooperation of Payne's family and the PGA. It is in Amazon's top 100 (as of 6/8) for a reason. Ken Abraham, the experienced author of another PGA book with Paul Azinger, did a fantastic job. I loved it. I predict you will too.

I just got my copy of the Payne Stewart authorized bio by his widow, Tracey and I couldn't put it down! As I read through the book, I definitely felt as if I were being let into the Stewart family. I loved the book for the portrayal of the great love that Payne and Tracey shared. I can't imagine how hard it must have been for Tracey to write this book, but I am glad that she felt it important to tell the story of Payne's life.

An inspiring, nourishing book! Tracey Stewart is quite frank about life on the PGA Tour -- the struggles, victories and Payne's battles through both. The recounting of the tragedy that took his life is moving, heartbreaking but lovingly shared -- i couldn't put it down.

4.0 out of 5 stars one great man, March 17, 2001
This review is from: Payne Stewart: The Authorized Biography (Hardcover)
this book was amazing. granted it could have been written a lot better, but it's understandable from the view thata his wife is writing this book shortly after his tragic death. tracey wrote well, but got a little boring here and there. other than that, this was great. i never knew the story of payne and his career untill i read this. it was truley a proof to me that he was a great father, husband, golfer, friend, and man. enjoy it!
