THANK YOU, Amazon, for the the clean version of this song! Heard it for the first time yesterday and love it, Maroon 5 is one of my favorite bands. I wish they didn't find it necessary to use bad language in their music, but thanks to you, I was able to download this song and my kids can listen to it, too. Itunes doesn't have it. Hats off to you!

This song is reminiscent of "Won't Go Home Without You" and "Back at Your Door" for some reason, which is a good thing. However, like one of the previous reviews stated, its bridge is a contrast with Wiz Khalifa; while I don't mind his music, the rap bridge in the middle of the song is jarring, with unnecessary (and I daresay obligatory) swearing. Otherwise, the song is great and I can't wait for Maroon 5's next album.

Love this band and have all their albums. I'm 48 and grew up on all genres of music. I was around when rap first got it's big start on MTV and liked a lot of the early stuff. You could understand the lyrics, it was melodic and mostly not profane and raunchy. That has all changed. I just don't understand why so many pop singers/bands feel the need to add a random (usually unintelligible & vulgar) rap in the middle of their songs (i.e., Katy Perry, Nelly Furtado...). Most of the time, it doesn't even fit within the song. That's particularly true in this case. Why Adam, WHY? This is a perfectly good song, just re-record it without the ridiculous rap! Please somebody stop the madness.

Let me start out by saying I regularly listen to explicit rock and hip hop. I don't mind profanity but I don't expect a bunch of profanity in Maroon 5 pop songs. So I was shocked when I heard Adam Levine dropping F-bombs in the chorus. It ruined the song for me because it is out of place and distracting. Do yourself a favor and buy the clean version.

This version still has rap on it even though one of the reviews makes it sound like there is no rap. I just wasted my money hoping this one was really clean, but it's just like the "clean" version with the rap but no curse words. I want the version they play on XM radio which has no rap. Sigh!!!!!

I agree that this is a really solid hit for a lead single, but I also agree that Wiz Khalifa should never have touched it. This is a great pop song, and don't get me wrong, I like rap music too, but his style just doesn't suit the song very well. If you really want the GOOD, NON-RAP version, then do a web search of "payphone no rap." One you get past a few dead video links, there should be a site with only one result. It works fine, hq and stereo and all that jazz. The song is just Maroon 5, no Wiz Khalifa. Basically what they did is they took Wiz Khalifa's rap and muted it, and then added a new bridge sung by Adam. It's really good. It's still explicit on the chorus when Adam says "full of s**t" and "f**king love song," but it's still better. Trust me, just listen to it and you'll see. Hope this helped.

Everything about the song is great. Exactly what I expect from Maroon 5, good fun pop tunes. Fantastic music video too.

...and then what sounds like a hoppin' 80's-type song, (including the usage of payphones since they're scarce nowadays!), turns into a trainwreck with a generic rap that sounds like a bad DJ mixed two unrelated records together.

Was there some contractual obligation to make this "Wiz" person appear on this single? Maroon 5 is usually smoother than this. Not one for the playlist or a M5 song I'd still want to hear years later. :(

Use of the F word seems largely gratuitous. No obvious artistic reason that word was needed. Dont recommnend to parents with young children.
