The Political Philosophy of Francis Bacon, January 20, 2010
This review is from: Peace Among the Willows: The Political Philosophy of Francis Bacon (International Archives of the History of Ideas Archives internationales d'histoire des idées) (Hardcover)
The late Howard B. White wrote this wonderful study of Francis Bacon. Francis Bacon is generally known as the father of the scientific method. He is really more than that. Through a close reading of Bacon's writings, Howard B. White demonstrates how Bacon understood human nature in order to reorient our attention in the world to allow for scientific endeavor to relieve man's estate. In this regard, we as readers also learn how Bacon also recognized the problem of science at its birth.
I write this review for the sake of all the good/great scholarly books that are now out of print and difficult and/or costly to obtain.
I make a plea to Academic Presses to republish these works in e-book format so that students and persons interested in such scholarly works can buy them at a reasonable price.
