5.0 out of 5 stars The elusive elixir of life and love, November 21, 2002
By
Mary Sharpe (Cambridge,England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Peace Between the Sheets: Sexual Relationships That Heal (Paperback)
Having studied the challenge of enduring love within sexual relationships for a number of years, I am delighted that a book now exists that offers practical down-to-earth advice about how to achieve a sustainable loving relationship in a modern day, largely secular environment. It proves that many spiritual traditions were right in principle, but that without the knowledge that science has revealed today, could not understand the practices well enough to communicate them effectively to their flocks. Many of the other relationship guide books today, describe the problems and manage them, but do not solve the underlying cause- this book does seek to do that and it would appear, very effectively.

The idea that genital orgasm can produce the same kind of addictive craving as cocaine, heroin or alcohol is astounding and should be researched further. Its suggestion that the deep state of well- being, balance and abundance that we are all wishing for but rarely achieve for long, is indeed possible through a slightly modified but totally satisfying and natural way of making love, is truly revolutionary in its import.

My only criticism of the book is that it is so choc-full of good ideas, advice and observations that many of the pearls of wisdom could be lost through overload. It requires several reads to appreciate how profound its wisdom is, though even in the first read through, it makes huge logical and emotional sense. The book could benefit from some important ideas being unbundled and illustrated with more concrete examples. Apart from this trifling consideration, I would thoroughly recommend the book to any person seeking to understand the mystery and mastery of love.It is truly inspirational.

5.0 out of 5 stars closeness gives lasting joy, October 6, 2002
By
Richard R. Pulliam (Middletown, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Peace Between the Sheets: Sexual Relationships That Heal (Paperback)
Ms. Estrade has tapped a vital cord in our relationships. We've been led to believe that "getting off" is what we want from sex. For many years I have felt that my sexual relationships were not giving me what I want. I knew that I wanted intimacy, but didn't know of an alternative, or a way to get there. Thank you Liz, I have one now.

I'm obviously beyond my "hormone driven" years. As we mature "conquest" loses value. I want more from this act than merely injecting my juices into another. I want to believe it has brought us closer and that our understanding of eachother will bind us.

The fact that these techniques have been used for centuries falls on dead ears for me. They are new to me, wherever they came from.

It is an easy to read book and has many, many, wonderfull examples. Lots of funny lines too! There are no filler pages in this book, I learned something from every page.

I hear she gives workshops for those who want to learn more about her methods.

Now I've got to get my partners to read this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Healing Relationship Space, November 14, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Peace Between the Sheets: Sexual Relationships That Heal (Paperback)
There are many books about intimacy and also sexual relationships. "Peace Between the Sheets" in unique in that it takes a look at our most intimate relationship and gives the reader a series of "exchanges" that show how to deepen the experience of intimacy in a loving way within the context of sexuality. It IS about deepening the connection AND deepening intimacy at the same time. It is one of the first books that I have found to really focus on opening up and healing to create a more profound experience of loving.

I would recommend this book to anyone looking to strengthen and deepen their most intimate relationship...to open up to the creative dyanamic of loving.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Ecstatic Exchanges: Loving your way to enligtenment, August 22, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Peace Between the Sheets: Sexual Relationships That Heal (Paperback)
I liked his book a lot, aside from its title. A better title would be one of its chapter titles: The Ecstatic Exchanges and a subtitle perhaps: Loving your way to enlightenment.
But this book's theme is a tough sell for some women...
But if you sense there can be more to sexual union than O's, then this book might be for you. It describes why you might want to retain your sexual energy and how to do so, beginning in a four week program. It sounds like a wonderful way to establish a deep connection with a lover, but I've had no takers, so I can't say how it works in practice. Except I have spoken with several friends who have tried this sort of thing, and they swear by it.
The book avoids technical tantric techniques and instead suggests a new way of loving that is easy and natural, though intimate.
It's time for a new way of loving, I'd say, and this book offers some wonderful suggestions about how to do that and reasons why it would be beneficial for everyone involved.

Liz really makes sense with this book. Like a lawyer building her case she systematicaly convicts conventional sex. Her arguments are extraordinary. More to the point what she's saying has the undeniable ring of truth to it. As you read this book light bulbs keep poping off in your head. Definitely worth the read and also a try.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cosmic Reunion Through Sacred Sex, September 19, 2002
This review is from: Peace Between the Sheets: Sexual Relationships That Heal (Paperback)
Liz Estrata elevates sex to a healing art form in her breakthrough guide to sacred sexuality, Peace Between the Sheets. Updating the ancient teachings of Tantra for an evolving humanity, she illustrates in clear language how the heart is the ultimate erogenous zone-and how conventional orgasm destroys relationships. Her radical approach turns everything we believe about conventional sex on its ear.

Dismantling decades of emphasis on the "Big O" as the goal of sexual intimacy, Estrata introduces the "Ecstatic Exchanges," a series of practical yet playful activities designed to help couples cultivate deep love and caring for one another, through sensual and sexual sharing. Her extensive personal and scientific research, as well as heartwarming stories from grateful couples around the globe, demonstrate how the Exchanges are the key to creating relationships that last.
