Book Description

The 2009 IPPY Bronze Medal Award Winner Self Help Category

Women, men, parents and teens just love the award-winning, personal growth, inspirational gift book Peace, Love and Lemonade: A Recipe to Make Your Life Sweeter! Numerous life examples reveal that the power of choice turns adversity of every sort into opportunities for increased happiness. Included in this illustrated book are simple exercises for both personally and professionally achieving one's "greatness" after traversing the terrain from lost to found. Nancy Stampahar reveals personal stories of how life threw her lemons from an early age. With candor, she speaks about gleaning courage from her beloved intellectually-disabled brother, as well as her mother who rose above an abusive marriage and, while single and on welfare, persevered to earn a law degree. Feeling vulnerable and distressed by circumstances as a teenager, Stampahar dropped out of high school and turned to drugs and alcohol. Now, she helps others lead more empowered lives.

Editorial Reviews

Review

A crisis is a terrible thing to waste whether it is personal or national. Underscoring the truth of this observation is Peace, Love and Lemonade: A Recipe to Make Your Life Sweeter by organizational development consultant, trainer, and keynote speaker Nancy Stampahar who uses her own life experiences to illustrate that every difficulty is an opportunity, every tough circumstance, if dealt with intelligence, optimism, and creativity, can prove to be instrumental in achieving something worthwhile in life. Using such real-life examples as her own mother, a single parent welfare mom, whose perseverance and hard work resulted in the earning of a law degree, her intellectually-disabled brother's personal courage, and herself having been a high school dropout, demonstrate that Nancy has 'walked the walk' as well as having 'talked the talk'. Highly recommended reading that is as practical as it is inspiring, Peace, Love and Lemonade: A Recipe to Make Your Life Sweeter is a welcome addition to personal self-help, self-improvement reading lists. --Reviewer s Bookwatch, Margaret's Shelf

Peace, Love and Lemonade: A Recipe to Make Your Life Sweeter comes from motivational speaker Nancy Stampahar, who writes, "No matter how tough our lives have been, we can reach 'our greatness potential. ' It is deep inside us. ... Our courage helps us to become more assertive, to ask for what we want and need, and to discover our unique passions.' The title is based on the old adage, 'When life hands you lemons, make lemonade.' This little workbook offers questions to ponder and the author's reflections on anger, guilt, shame, courage, assertiveness and accountability, and turning toward the positive. --Mary Louise Ruehr, Recordpub.com

In this book, author Nancy Stampahar delivers on her title: she offers readers a dollop of peace, a heartful of love, and a practical recipe for anyone who wants to extract sweetness from life. This is so important in today's media-driven culture of cynicism and fear. Nancy reminds us through the sharing of her own tribulations that all situations -- happy or sad, easy or tough -- can be turned into life-affirming opportunities for personal growth. This book is practical, real and complied in an easy-on-the-eye fashion so readers can pick it up as time permits and glean its wisdom. --Gina Hillier, Author of Everything Matters, Nothing Matters

4.0 out of 5 stars Heartwarming book, October 23, 2008
This review is from: Peace, Love and Lemonade: A Recipe to Make Your Life Sweeter (Perfect Paperback)
Nancy Stampahar, in her book Peace, Love & Lemonade, offers the reader some tools to evaluate their own life and where it may be beneficial to make changes. It is a very quick read, and the first time through I recommend just reading it through and going back later to work on the exercises presented throughout. The author also does a good job of using her own personal experiences to illustrate the techniques.
