Book Description

November 9, 2002 Mind, Body and Soul, 1
Peace, Love and Muscles is an extraordinary work created by a man with an extraordinary perspective and philosophy. Victor Costa, pictured on the cover of his book, knows how to get people in the best shape of their lives, but at the same time attempts to place vanity in perspective and explains his natural winning philosophy that serves as a recipe for success on all of life's playing fields. Victor believes he had a duty to write this book. The back cover states," I had to do it!" I had to write this book because I got tired of seeing the public get ripped off, lied to, and misinformed by an entire industry that has us all chasing the magic formula to physical success. I'm tired of the obscene contradiction of someone preaching health and fitness while on steroids or other performance enhancing drugs. Or, even better, how do we tolerate those electrocution devices that are supposed to flex your muscles for you and get you in shape? Do you get the sense that something is seriously wrong? I do. I'm tired of life in a can. I'm tired of someone telling me what my problem is then selling me the solution in a can. I'm tired of the quick fix, the snake oil salesman, the lofty claims, the overnight cures and potions, and the general garbage being thrown at me every time someone has a marketing dollar to spend. Something tells us intuitively that life doesn't work that way. Fitness, strength, character and reaching goals doesn't work that way. Good things, substantial things take time, some effort, and require a plan. But most of all it begins on the inside."

This book is unique in that it offers two of the most descriptive workouts ever written. In this book, Victor offers us his personal home and gym workouts. But don't call this another "BODY BOOK". Victor explains, " I train individuals, not body parts". He continues, " I treat physicality as simply on e aspect of the being. 'Physical goals are easy to achieve, it's the self actualization goals that are hard to attain.'"

This is the first book that explains the relationship between virtue and goal achievement. In Chapter 8, Victor speaks about the Universe regulating your success based upon the sincerity of your purpose".

In Chapter 6, perhaps the most thought provoking chapter in the book, Victor refers to prejudice of any kind as a denial of the self and an unnatural response that limits emotional as well as physical growth.

In Chapter 4, Victor explains that although goal achievement is important, we must work toward goals that are intimate and of our own design. He shares with us an endearing story that explains why he has pursued physical superiority. He shares this with us to stress the importance and responsibility we have to ourselves to do things that are intimately of our choice, instead of pursuing goals, lifestyles or careers goals others have set for us.

In Chapter 3 he provides for each of us a personal declaration of belief. He also provides for us a contract that holds us to making a stride in the direction of our true dreams and objectives within a 3 month period. He's not at all concerned with the achievement, he is concerned with us taking the first step.

Now, the workout stuff. Chapters 13 and 14 provide the most descriptive workout programs ever designed. In Chapter 13, Victor provides for us his personal workout for the gym and Chapter 14 a workout we can do at home. Take these at your own pace. These workouts are the actual workouts Victor has used to achieve his incredible physique. His attention to detail is incredible and wait until you see the pictures. His attention to detail is incredible.

Thank you Mr. Costa for making this workout so easy to follow. I really enjoyed the introduction & hearing about what motivated you. I was ready for a change but did not have time to go to a gym with a new baby in my life. Your book with it's clear photography & accurate descriptions is exactly what I needed to get on a new program!

4.0 out of 5 stars You Gotta Give the Guy Credit, November 14, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Peace, Love & Muscles (Mind, Body and Soul, 1) (Paperback)
He's trying to take on the big guys, the magazines, the drug infested world of bodybuilding. His message is clear, drug users are losers. Victor did what he did without drugs. They way he explains the exercises is truly unique. This book focuses on how an exercise is suppossed to feel instead of repetitions. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to gt in shape and needs a little encouragement and wants to know the right way how to do it.
