Music Special Products could be your answer. This CD collects 10 of Donovan's best tunes from his mid to late '60s Epic
Records years. Included are 6 of his worldwide hits "Jennifer Juniper," Sunshine Superman," "Wear Your Love Like Heaven,"
"There Is A Mountain," and "Lalena" plus 4 of his non hits but fan faves, including "The Sun Is A Very Magic Fellow," "Bert's
Blues," "Superlungs My Supergirl" and "The Trip". Though the packaging is minimal the sound is fine thanks to all the material
having been digitally remastered. The best deal? ...

Donovan Leitch is a Scottish musician/songwriter who had several number one songs and a number one album in the 60s. This is a remastered reissue album by Sony Special Music Projects containing songs orignally released in the USA on the Epic label which was owned by CBS.

If you are 50 years or older you may recall some of the hits such as Sunshine Superman, There Is A Mountain, Jennifer Juniper, Superlungs My Supergirl, Atlantis, and Lalena. "There is A Mountain" later became Mountain Jam by the Allman Brothers Band.

I gave this album four stars because it has only approximately 34 minutes of music. Moreover, it does not include monumental hits such as Hurdy Gurdy Man, Mellow Yellow, Season of the Witch, Guinevere and To Susan On the West Coast Waiting.

If you are looking for an inexpensive introduction to Donovan, this is a good buy for a dollar plus shipping. But, this is just a partial introduction. However it is worth buying just to rip and store on your MP3 player. Just don't be satisfied with album because it is an incomplete compilation of hits.

Donovan was one of the first folk-rockers to incorporate the sitar and also use classical music arrangements. He is famous for many things but probably best-known for going to India during 1968 with the Beatles plus Mia Farrow and her sister Prudence. While in India, Donovan taught John Lennon and Paul McCartney how to play guitar "clawhammer" style and you can hear the results on songs such as "Dear Prudence" which was written by Paul for Prudence Farrow.

Also, Donovan was one of the original "psychedelic" rockers which was really a misnomer especially when you listen to the songs. But, it was trippy music back during the mid-sixties.

More recently, Donovan performed during 2009 at Radio City Music Hall in New York City with Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. So, he is much more than an old, obscure rocker. Buy one of his hit compilation albums and groove to the Hurdy Gurdy man.
