Biography

As half of the singing/song-writing core of The Beatles, John Lennon stands as one of the most influential figures in 20th Century music. With Sir Paul McCartney, guitarist George Harrison and drummer Ringo Starr, the Beatles changed the face of popular music forever. Nearly all Beatles songs were co-credited to Lennon-McCartney, but Lennon was largely responsible for many of their most… Read more in Amazon's John Lennon Store

Editorial Reviews

It has already been 25 years since his death, but John Lennon's message of peace lives on. EMI Music Asia has created a unique John Lennon project in tribute to his message of peace and love. The album includes a new multi-cultural remix of 'Give Peace A Chance' (bringing together a variety of some of Asia's biggest artists all singing in their own language). The album, which includes various Lennon solo songs as well as the 'Give Peace a Chance' remix, is exclusively released across Australia and Southeast Asia only. 18 tracks in all including 'Gimme Some Truth', 'Love', 'Hold On', 'Give Peace A Chance Y2k+', 'Mind Games', 'Don't Wanna Be A Soldier', 'Instant Karma!', 'Power To The People', 'Real Love', 'Help Me To Help Myself', 'I Don't Wanna Face It', 'Bless You', 'Happy Xmas (War Is Over)' and of course, 'Imagine'. EMI. 2005.  --This text refers to an alternate Audio CD edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Peace, Love & an Excellent Compilation, November 8, 2005
I bought this album intrigued by its contents: 3 versions of "Give Peace A Chance?" How is this possible? Aside from the original (track 18), The 2005 Remix is undeniably the best of the three. Indeed, the message itself is pertinent to the trying times facing our world today, but the song itself proves that music is the universal language of peace. The track is brilliantly recorded by some of Asia's best musicians contributing to a remarkable, if simple, peace anthem that continues to ring true to this day.
The second version of "Give Peace A Chance" was performed by Yoko Ono in the wake of the attacks on Spetember 11. Another good version of the same classic.
Overall, the album is perfect. It is far better than the Definitive Lennon album released October 2005, mainly due to the added surprises like the afore mentioned versions of "Give Peace A Chance," and Ono's "Listen The Snow Is Falling". The updated, remixed versions of classic hits also add charm and a sense of "Lennon Today" to the ardent Lennon fan. The entore album is comprised of songs about Peace, Love, and Truth - elements we seem to lack lately in our society. The dream lives on...

3.0 out of 5 stars Give Me Some Truth - John Lennon Reviewed By Rick Glenn, February 18, 2010

Give Me Some Truth By John Lennon. Is yet another best of collection by the late and great John Lennon. Since the realease of Shaved Fish (Released: 24 October 1975) There has been John Lennon Collection November 1982, Menlove Ave. Released: 3 November 1986,Imagine: John Lennon Released: 10 October 1988,Lennon Released: 30 October 1990,Lennon Legend: The Very Best of John Lennon Released 27 October 1997 (UK), 24 February 1998 (US),John Lennon Anthology Released: 2 November 1998,Wonsaponatime Released: 2 November 1998,Instant Karma: All-Time Greatest Hits Released: 1 February 2002
Acoustic Released: 1 November 2004,Peace, Love & Truth,Released: 4 August 2005,Working Class Hero: The Definitive Lennon Released: 3 October 2005,
The U.S. vs. John Lennon Released: 25 September 2006 & Remember Released: 2006.

One has to only wonder how many more gretest hit records will be released in the future. This cd is a lot like Imagin & The U.S. Vs John Lennon. So if you like the political version of John Lennon then you will want this cd in your collection. Note this is suppose to be an import but I wonder. I rated three stars simply because there in nothing fresh or new about it that would make it stand out from the rest.

My thought is why so many greatest hits records? Why has Yoko Ono, The record companys or his esstate not releaced more live records?

Cheers Rick Glenn
