This review is from: Peace of Mind (Audio CD)
Hey there folks.
Just a word about this cd it xxxxing rocks. I am actually lucky enough to live in the same city as Micheal Monroe so I get to see a lot of his gigs.
If you like not fakin it as an album you are gonna love this.
Its a lot more down to earth and well what can I say its probably his best release yet apart from life gets you dirty.
And believe me when I say he can play these songs live.
Just wanna say

4.0 out of 5 stars Punky and heavy on emotions, October 19, 2000

This album by one-time Hanoi Rocks vocalist and member of Demolition 23. and Jerusalem Slim is a punk classic.

Tough, gritty and wearing emotions on his sleeve, the glam king tears through punky original material alongside of bona-fide classics by the MC5, Dead Boys and The Damned. The only real downside to this fine album is that it seems somewhat one-track minded when compared to his 1989 major label debut, Not Fakin' It or his latest effort Life Gets You Dirty.

The 2 bonus tracks compensate for the horrific cover (the original European and Japanese was far better. I wonder why the American release has this monstrosity.). They are demos by Michael and the late Stiv Bators (of Dead Boys and Lords of the New Church), and possibly of more historic than musical value, but an entertaining listen all the same.

If you are looking for your first Michael Monroe CD you'd better start with his '99 masterpiece "Life Gets You Dirty", but if you're already smitten, this is the next one...

Once again Michael Monroe shows the world how it's done. From first track to last he keeps you rocking. Absolutly no frills, no filler and serves as a reminder of how rock should be and could be.

4.0 out of 5 stars Uploaded but not updated, which is just fine., October 28, 2009
This review is from: Peace of Mind (Audio CD)
Released in 2000 on Deadline Records this album is yet another disc where Monroe wears his heart on his sleeve. This is what he does, no apologies. The album has little variety - at least philosophically - and every track is infused with the mans love of toe tappin' rock `n' roll and sheer ebullience at being alive. The numbers fairly roll along and this is the sort of album that you listen to without actually listening to it if you take my meaning. The whole thing sits together so well and that is the main reason I have given this a healthy four stars. There isn't awesome musicianship, the production is quite natural and there are no `gotta have, can't live without' songs here. But with a Monroe album that's not necessarily the point. Rather the point is to be able to throw something in your stereo to get you scooting on down that highway or as a fun time listen for when you want something lively that also lets you relax.

I don't visit the Michael Monroe section of my CD shelf too often but when I do it's always a brisk and bright listen. And there are far worse fates that could of befallen this rock survivor.
