Book Description

The police didn’t understand the danger—but she did.

Her father had always been abusive, but now, with a ten million dollar Thoroughbred farm on the line, and a powerful bookie leaning on him, her father had become out of control. But how do you get away and take a world famous stallion with you? Carrie was getting desperate when a handsome and honorable but thoroughly cynical rodeo cowboy from Wyoming happened to show up with a horse trailer. He didn’t ride a white horse, but he was definitely a knight in shining armor.

He’ll protect her from the mob, but can she survive falling in love with a bull rider?

3.0 out of 5 stars An enjoyable read. June 30, 2013

Format:Kindle Edition
3/3.5 stars

This was a fun LDS read. I really got into it when Carrie takes off with Slade and Rossen. I've always had a thing for cowboys (hard-working men, who are charming, and are built with lean muscles) and these two are gentlemen besides. The characters were great and I loved Rossen's family.

There is quite a lot going on between Carrie's safety, the rodeos, and the traveling. I also loved the scenery and especially Slade's house, which is basically my dream house. :) The romance was really sweet, but also realistic for the situation.

I did feel it was a little too preachy and that the way those who weren't members of the church just ate everything up was unrealistic. It was just too easy and didn't feel real to me. It was also dramatic at parts, but it is a happily-ever-after kind of tale. Due to the religious content, I would recommend this only to members of the church.

Overall, it was an enjoyable, even if not realistic, read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another winner January 22, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have read all of Jaclyn's contemporary books and what I appreciate most is the depth of the relationships. The hero/heroine relationships are built on friendship and respect first, though of course attraction is there. There is more depth and reality there, I feel, than the angst/physical attraction combo that is so often the extent of relationships in many romances. The characters actually know each other and we can see that.
Christian faith is a comfortable part of the characters and story and Latter-day saint readers, especially, will appreciate it.
The antagonists and conflicts were appropriately bad without making me feel uncomfortable. Some alcoholism, gambling, and "roughing up" references but nothing that felt too heavy.
I enjoyed reading about the rodeo and ranching life and the supporting characters were great. The descriptions of the people and places were so good I couldn't help wanting to move in next door. I can't wait to see more of them. Another clean, fantastic read. I'm waiting anxiously for the rest of the series!

3.0 out of 5 stars LDS/Morman romance May 9, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is like a long running commercial for the Morman church. It's too bad because the story line was a good plot. It was irritating enough that I delete the other title by J. Hawkes--Outer Edge of Heaven. Wish I'd read the reviews on both the books first.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very Christian book January 24, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book has a vary religious calling. If you do not like to hear their continuous praying, you will only be reading half of this book. I like a good story, but not a sermon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book! December 3, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I loved this book! So fun to read a clean rodeo cowboy story! The main characters reminded me a bit of Lane Frost and Tuff Hedeman but in a "clean" cut, lds return missionary kind of way. :) Great Story!
