2.0 out of 5 stars Yeah, Whatever
The word 'remix' is not a term one really expects to hear in the same sentence as the name Dolly Parton, and there is nothing here to indicate why this should change anytinme in the near future.

I have loved Dolly's music for 15 years and when she released Peace Train I played it every day for weeks! I am a DJ and when I work, Peace Train is the perfect song to finish the evening with. The temperature almost rises to fever pitch when I play The Holy Roller version. It has an irresistible beat, a fantastic gospel choir and a fabulous piano. The cream of the cace is Dolly, singing the song the bottom of her heart. All of this creates a happy feeling at the club and people actually leave it with a smile on their faces, partly thanks to Dolly I think. All the remixes aren't as good as The Holy Roller but still quite exciting. Junior Vasquez has done a great "Arena Anthem" mix (with a really cool middlepart) and Julian's Morning Passage mix is almost as good as Holy Roller. This is one of the best releases from 1997 and if you STILL haven't got it, I suggest you buy it NOW.

First of all, who would ever think about doing dance mixes of an old Cat Stevens song? Secondly, a country singer gone techno? No wonder this track got so much buzz in the music industry. And the reason for its amazing longevity on the club charts is that this is GOOD! Dolly's voice is strong enough to carry a hard techno beat, yet still remain sweet and soulful. A crossover success, definitely. All you dance mavens out there, get this one before it goes out of print!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good club music from a COUNTRY singer, December 5, 1999
This review is from: Peace Train (Remixes) (Audio CD)
IF y'all thought that Shania's dance mix of "That Don't Impress Me Much" was great, then this cd is a must have for you collection. I love the way she mixes in the piano with the beats. That is the best way to make sure that a song is a club hit. She has a beautiful voice that just flows through the entire song. If you like dancing, then get this cd. You won't be able to stop.

4.0 out of 5 stars an awesome atempt to cross over, September 21, 1998

She is awesome!! Don't under-estimate what Dolly can do. She does it all, and well!! Gospel, bluegrass, pop, country, dance, disco, and anything else you could imagine. Listen to it and just believe it!! This is one of the best release since 1990. Maybe her latest supurb release was the trio album??? I suggest this to anyone who loves Dolly or dance music. Her vocals are more than one could imagine on this recording. I would like to see her come out with an entire disc. Go Dolly!!!! However, she needs (for my sake) to continue doing pure country. Buy "Peace Train" today and check out her latest recording "Hungry Again"!!!!!!

Sexy Cool Credible. Dolly is the most happening thing in Dance music in the last year. Her cross over collaborations with Junior Vasquez & and other top remixers makes PEACE TRAIN the beginning of a New era for Miss Parton. Hearing is believing !!! The New UK Remixes & Vasquez Edit makes this Single a MAJOR RELEASE to get :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars Who would have thought Dolly would do "House" music?, August 23, 1998

I've been a follower of the words and wisdom of 'Dolly-ism' for the past 18 years and I've heard her preach with cornball country, rock, love and some dance songs. As a true follower, I believed she needed a modern dance song to spread the message and she got it with "Peace Train." If you're thinking, "Dolly Parton? She's country,... and old." don't worry about it. There are six very different versions on this CD and no country. The original, track #6, has an african inspired sound focusing mainly on the vocals. This song alone is great! As for the re-mix versions, tracks 1 and 3 seemed to have slowed down vocals, but the music still works.Track #4 is a feel-good version with great sounds and a continuous flow of music. As for the 'Arena Anthem', well, they wanted to shock the world with this song,.. and they did! When I listen to it, I start off by visualizing it. I see a darkened road in the middle of nowhere and out of the darkness comes two alien abductors who's mission is to bring world peace. She is their first contact. As she stands there, filled with fear, the aliens begin to chant causing her to fall to the floor in a hypnotic trance. As they circle her body as part of the brainwashing experience, she begins to rise into the air chanting their message. The aliens begin to dance in victory to some of the most fierce music around. You feel it coming. You feel the drama. You feel the music! This song was on the Billboard dance charts in 1997 and ranked fairly high, so don't feel wierd buying it. Just don't tell your friends who it is. Let them figure it out when they go to the store and find it in the country section. It's definitely worth it.

I am and always have been a fairly avid Parton fan and somehow missed picking up the CD from which "Peace Train" came. I heard a version of it probably a half dozen years ago and made a mental note that I would pick it up some time if I happened to see it. I actually looked for it on iTunes and other sites; however, could not find it....I saw the original album as well as this remix album on Amazon and opted for the remix version after reading the reviews. It is, in my mind, amazing! The Holy Roller version is incredible and is "Light of a Clear Blue Morning" meets a "Two Doors Down" verb...and the DJs did a great job of making it into a club song. I have included it in my "Christmas Mix" this year and have it as a top rated song on my ipod....loved it so much that, now that the business of Christmas is over, I will go back to buy the album from which Dolly's original cover of Cat's song came.....AWESOME....
