The first thing I love about Race to the Treasure is that the instructions are printed inside the lid of the box! Yeah no instruction's to loose! Next is that all the game pieces can be put back in the included envelope so you don't have loose pieces flying around when you open the box. The object of the game is to get to the treasure before the Ogre does, by of course working together. So 2-4 players work together choosing which way to put their Path Cards which guide them towards the three keys they need to earn. While they are playing though if they pick up on Ogre card instead of a Path Card then the Ogre gets one spot closer to the treasure. My five year old loves this game because he is all about mazes and moving around on a gameboard and with the Path Cards you create the direction you are moving! It is a challenge to line the cards up the right way all while picking up the three keys you need and then racing to the treasure before the Ogre! I will say though my son was excited to have the Ogre pop up! This is an adorable game and even though it says ages 5 and up, my 3 year old is picking up how to play the game! Great decision making and teamwork going on in this game!

When we pulled out Race to the Treasure to play my boys were very interested in this game. It held my 3 year old's attention through the whole first time through the game, a major feat for my 3 year old! My 5 year old and I went on to play a total of 5 games in a row we were having so much fun! The games are pretty quick and are different every time which makes it fun to play the game a few times back to back. I loved that my 5 year old was learning about how to count on a grid while busy playing. The only thing I would say is that we won every time we played and it would be nice to have a variant that makes the game a bit harder once you know how to play like is offered in some of the other Peaceable Kingdom games. We loved the game and the pieces and board are very vibrant and well made.

Disclosure: I received this game for free to review on my website A Mom's Take - Reviews & Giveaways. The opinions expressed are my own.

We play this game with our 7 and 5 year old. They absolutely love it! It is a simple game, with simple rules and it moves quickly, which is great because it keeps everyone's attention. I love that it is a "thinking" game and allows for options with each card that is played (there are multiple ways to lay the piece to create the path to the end). My favorite thing is telling the kiddos that the goal of the game is for everyone to work together to get the keys and beat the Ogre. A lot of other games have everyone trying to be the 1st and with younger kiddos the games never end with everyone happy like with the Race to the Treasure!

If we have friends come over, my kiddos love to pull this game out to play and they can teach their friends to play with very little help from us. I have noticed that the age recommendations are pretty accurate. Friends who are under 5 who try to play seem to loose interest in playing quickly.

We recommend this game!

I have six kids ranging in age from infant to 16 year old. We are all happy to play this game with the younger kids - and that is saying something! We are a big gaming family and are particular about our games that we play!

We received the Race for the Treasure board game to review on my blog, New Age Mama, and my children loved it. The characters appeal to younger children and keep them interested. In the game, try to beat the ogre to the treasure by creating a path. Everyone has to work together to create the path, so there is no competition. Its a team effort. If they get to the treasure before the ogre, everyone wins! Its a fun game that teaches math skills, and encourages team work. This is a game that works for a variety of ages. My children are between the ages of three and twelve, and they all enjoyed it.

My nephew loves this game! He has played several times since I gave it to him. The games go quickly so you're not "stuck" for a long time playing an involved game. It would be nice if it came with a cloth pouch for the cards (they suggest putting them in a pile facing down, but we use the envelope they came in to reach in and pull one out.. better for small kids than trying to keep a large pile of small cards in tact). The quality of the board and cards is awesome, the graphics are super cute and they replace missing pieces for free! Love the quality and thought put into this brand of games.

We have 4 year old twins and a 7 year old and they all adore this game. It keeps the kids' interest because it can be different each time depending on how you build the path. They really enjoy working together to pick up the keys and to try and beat ogre. The game is well made - very durable. This is my new "go to" present to give my kids' friends for a birthday present. I highly recommend!

My 8 and 5 year old girls got this game for Christmas and they love it! They've played it several times and each time is different. I love that they have to work together to get to the treasure.
