5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely Peaceful
I've only had it for 2 days. I tested it on Sunday to see how it would work. Unfortunately I set my alarm clock for 8am in the morning when the sun is shining brightly and did not use the aromatherapy because it is very strong. The minute I opened the box it was all you could smell ... so I tossed them and will be replacing it with Bath & Body Works Tranquil Mint Oil...

Well this clock is definitely peaceful, especially if you use it at night to wind down. The nature sounds are realistic and the "Zen Melody" makes you feel like you're in a Japanese garden. I don't think the aromatherapy is worth it because you can smell it without heating it, so the room smells like coffee when you go to bed as well as when you wake up. Also, the scents...

I don't think the aromatherapy is worth it because you can smell it without heating it, so the room smells like coffee when you go to bed as well as when you wake up. Also, the scents that come with it just don't smell very good...I definitely recommend using your own aromatherapy oil. If the light and nature sounds don't wake you up, the alarm definitely will. BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP!!! So loud it nearly gives me a heart attack! All-in-all a cool device, but the cost is probably double what it's worth.

The minute I opened the box it was all you could smell ... so I tossed them and will be replacing it with Bath & Body Works Tranquil Mint Oil. So Sunday was not a good day because the Sun was brighter than the light.

But Monday I wake up at 5:30am ... and sure enough around 5:15 I noticed the room growing brighter which caused me to awake pleasantly. It is definitely like the sun rising. I actually thought I had slept through my alarm until I turned and looked out my window to discover it was still dark out. Then the birds started chirping (nature sounds) and they mixed in with the natural birds.

Since I went to bed after 12 and I'm baby sitting my sister's cat ... who kept meowing and crying around 3am ... I decided to hit the snooze button just to get some extra sleep. Then sure enough on cue at 5:30am the buzzer sound went off ... lol.

This is definitely a wonderful clock ... and I'm definitely anticipating the wonderful peaceful progression called waking up :)

2.0 out of 5 stars Not bright, features can't be changed, September 21, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Peaceful Progression Aromatherapy And Nature Sounds Wake-Up Alarm Clock
I chose this one over some of the other sunrise clocks like the BioBrite because it was cheaper and seemed to have more options with a better user interface, but I wound up returning it after trying it for a few weeks because the options are limited and I didn't like the extra features.

The first thing I noticed when I opened the box was that the scent beads are really horrible. Gave me a headache...I immediately put them back in the box and closed it to get the smell away. You can just use your own scents so that's not a big deal, but be prepared for it. The brightness wasn't enough to wake me up in the morning...actually, it wasn't really even enough to read by at night. I tried falling asleep to the nature sounds, but they're on such a short loop that I had to turn them off in less than a minute...much more annoying than relaxing.

All these things were disappointing, but the reason I ended up returning the clock in the end was the alarm/snooze operation. When the light reaches brightness, the buzzer goes off (there's no way to disable the sounds) and the light never woke me up so when I woke up to the buzzer, I automatically hit snooze. The snooze turns off both the buzzer AND the light, so for me that was basically starting over with a dark room and a sudden buzzer when the alarm went off five minutes later. The light comes back on with the buzzer after the snooze but its just a light, not a "peaceful progression" at that point. Once I realized this I thought about using my regular alarm clock and just using the light feature on this clock to make the morning a little gentler, but there's no way to use the light without the sound.

There's some good potential features on this clock, but they just don't work well, so it was not worth it for me. That being said, Collectibles Today was very easy to work with and I was able to return it with no problems and at no cost to me.

I like this clock and I'm glad I got it, but for what it is, it's too pricey. The construction isn't all that impressive as the clock itself seems kind of flimsy. That said, the features are quite nice and the quality of the "white noise" sounds is good. I wish they'd picked different choices for the sounds, but they're not bad. Despite looking complex, it's fairly easy to operate.

1.0 out of 5 stars Lightweight, Expensive, Sounds Digitalized, Missing Feature., January 21, 2010
This review is from: Peaceful Progression Aromatherapy And Nature Sounds Wake-Up Alarm Clock
The only thing that I like is that it doubles as a nightstand light/lamp.

It's lightweight, so whenever you try to press snooze or light buttons (located on the bottom), the clock would move making it difficult to activate unless it's been hold by the other hand or put against a wall.

It's expensive for this clock that doesn't make too much stuff.

The nature sounds are too digitalized making them annoying at times. The only ones I liked were the mountain stream & the ocean surf. The sound clips are too short that you'd hear the repetition.

It's missing the option to only have the light activate when the set time hits. Even with the volume set to none, the sounds go off.

3.0 out of 5 stars sunrise alarm, November 28, 2009

I bought this because I really have trouble getting up in the morning, the darker the worse. Like many of the other revieweers, I have had some troulbe getting going. It took my several days to get this programmed right and it is not the greatest. I really just want the light and the sound. The alarm is REALLY annoying and I have an alarm clock that I like. It seems better to wake up when I have the light/souond on but I am a person who needs at least 2 smoozes to wake up and the light and sound go off when you hit the snooze. So much for the light helping to wake feel like it is dawn. Monday I think that when I hit the snooze, I will try also pushing the light button. Does seem like a lot to think about when I am in a semi-awake state. Seemed like the best bet but since I haven't tried the others, hard to tell. Also the aroma therapy is NASTY smelling [couldn't even stand to have it in the same room with me} and the sound track sounds like a record with a skip in it.

All in All anything that will help me to get up and ready for the day in a better state has to be a good thing.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the price- More Cons than Pros, January 5, 2010
This review is from: Peaceful Progression Aromatherapy And Nature Sounds Wake-Up Alarm Clock
I used this alarm clock for a whole year so I have a good idea about it. This clock claims to wake you using 3 things- Scent, Light, and Sound.

Scent: The clock comes with scent beads that you can use and they smell pretty cheap and have a very unnatural & not very pleasing sort of scent to them. The reviewer that compared them to smelling like "cheap shampoo" is correct. The good thing is though that you don't have to use the beads and can instead use cotton balls and soak them in your favorite natural scented oil. Unfortunately there's no way to turn the scent on or off. So if you want to add a Coffee scent to wake you up you have to go to bed smelling that scent- which kind up defeats the purpose. It's true that the light turning on for waking you up does warm the scent and makes it stronger, but even without the light the scent was strong enough to fill my small bedroom. Besides when you're sleeping right beside the clock the scent is strong regardless. Would've been better if the scent was blocked and the alarm time triggered not only the light, but some holes to open and let the scent out which would wake you. Without this the concept just doesn't work.

Light: The light isn't very strong- Especially since it's in the back of the clock not facing you and half covered with thick plastic lines. It will probably only help wake u if you tend to wake up during hours of complete darkness. However I will say that the few times I did have to wake up at such an hour, waking up with the light is just about the most soothing and natural way to wake up. There are better light clocks out there though.

Sound: The nature sounds are just ok. Not very high quality. There is an alarm option as well and a headphone jack if you want to sleep with headphones and get the alarm blasting directly in your ear.

All in all just an ok clock definitely not worth the price. The sight, sound, smell idea is great but this clock doesn't execute them very well. After a year of use I finally gave up on it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Overpriced, but better than others, October 18, 2009
This review is from: Peaceful Progression Aromatherapy And Nature Sounds Wake-Up Alarm Clock
I've looked for years for a progressive alarm clock, and finally found this four years ago. It was the only thing on the market at the time, I bet you can find something better now. The beads are pretty nasty, they smell like cheap shampoo. The "nature" sounds are simply cheap - better sounds can be found from Walmart toys. The light is only helpful if you wake up in the dark, which I don't do for much of the year. I expected the sound to be progressive, it wasn't. The white noise never varies in volume (although it will turn into beeping if you don't respond for a few minutes). Worse are the controls. The "off" button is one of four small buttons in the front (in the photo, it's the second from the left). It's a bit hard to find at times. The snooze button on the other hand is quite large (it's the big button labelled "snooze"). It's easy to hit that, get up and go into the kitchen, only to have your angry wife come out several minutes later because your clock is going off again, because you hit snooze by accident.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great idea with poor execution, November 24, 2010
This review is from: Peaceful Progression Aromatherapy And Nature Sounds Wake-Up Alarm Clock
The overall concept is great but I am not happy with the product for the following reasons:

1) The wake up light is not bright enough and does not always wake me.

2) The LED read out that shows the time is too bright--and is not adjustable at all. I have to cover up the LED time readout or otherwise the room is too bright to sleep.

3) The fragrance beads smell cheesy

4) You have to operate the buttons in a certain order or it won't work--that's a pain.

5) The wake up light does not stay on long enough and there is no adjustment feature to adjust the length of time the light stays on.

6) The buzzer at the end of the wake up cycle is obnoxious and irritating which kind of defeats the purpose of the product.

7) The quality of the sounds is so-so

Here's what I like:

1) it is returnable

1.0 out of 5 stars Nice Sounds... But That's About It - Don't Waste Your Money, April 17, 2010
This review is from: Peaceful Progression Aromatherapy And Nature Sounds Wake-Up Alarm Clock
I received this as a present after putting it on my Wish List and was cautious when I took it out of the box. It was very flimsy. The beads they give you were synthetic, obviously, but I went with the Lavender and threw the others out as they just made my eye watter. By the morning (I did not use the alarm clock to wake up that day) I threw away the lavender as I had a raging headache and one more second of that pungent smell was going to drive me to my first ever migraine, the heating obviously isn't needed. The sounds are wonderful, absolutely wonderful. The light is not full spectrum, disappointed by that. The clock's time shows green in all the pictures, however it is a bright green at night. I think it's brighter then the bulb they have in the clock. Having such a bright green light counteracts the whole idea of waking up to light. It's basically already lit the bedroom. I would advise people to not buy this clock, it's a good idea, but the details seem to have been forgotten and it really feels like it was done on the cheap.
