One of my all-time favorites,
This review is from: Peaceful, the World Lays Me Down (Audio CD)
I've had this album for a couple of years it seems like, and I have yet to grow sick of the tunes. Noah and the Whale combines catchy beats, beautiful voices, and lyrics that have the ability to either create a relaxed, fun atmosphere or drive a listener to look inward, to look at themselves, depending on what the listener wants to take away from the listen. This has become my staple album for long night drives, mid-morning commutes, in other words: I'd listen to Noah and the Whale anywhere. This was the band's first album, and I anxiously awaited their sophomore - Blue Skies. It was, of course, just as brilliant, but gave the band a bit of a new sound; embarking on deeper, relational issues and more of a "story" album. This album still seems to be my favorite. 2 thumbs way up, 5 stars, all of my support and admiration. Anxiously awaiting a chance to see these guys play live. BUY THIS ALBUM; folk-pop at its finest.(Similar artists I'd compare them with: Seabear, Freelance Whales, his Orchestra, Fanfarlo, Great Lake Swimmers, The Weepies, and more of those folk-pop-trumpet-and-glockenspiel-inducing bands us "indie" kids can't get enough of.)

Really solid debut...,

This review is from: Peaceful, the World Lays Me Down (Audio CD)
This is a really solid debut album that shows a wide range of diversity. While the two "singles", Shape of My Heart and 5 Years Time are both really great, they aren't the only two songs on the album. I can listen over and over, not skip a song and seemingly never get bored. Definitely worth a listen and obviously a buy.

Evolution of Folk,

This review is from: Peaceful, the World Lays Me Down (Audio CD)
Great debut with what accidentally appears to be a nice British take on Jonathan Richman. The slightly off-kilter vocals only add to the charm and wit of the songs, which ring honest with heart and freshness.
So, yes, I dig.
