I found this book in one of those Buy Three and Get One Free deals in a chain bookstore ~~ the selections were quite limiting that day and I really didn't want to pass up the free book deal. (That is a true sign of a bookholic btw!)I picked it up during a recent bout of sinus infection and wasn't able to put it down till it was finished. Yes, it is sweet and predictable ~~ but it was written so nicely! It really is a sweet book!

This book is about friendship among three young girls. There's Murphy, a very intelligent but bored young girl who rather be busy causing trouble. There's Birdie, a very shy girl who's father owns the peach orchard. She is related to Leeda, a young socialite, who's parents own several hotels in the area and is considered to be spoiled. All three girls have issues with their mothers and with their lives. Thrown together over spring break for various reasons, they developed a bond while protecting the peaches from a late frost. Coming back together over the summer, they really defined their friendships, fell in love and it was the summer of their lives.

This is a sweet book simply because it's written simply. It flows naturally among the characters and it brings back memories of summer camp! The descriptions of working in a peach orchard didn't hurt it any ~~ in fact, after reading this book, I was craving peaches!

It is a wonderful book for anyone to read ~~ and perfect for those young teenagers who likes to read. It's fun and delicious.

I saw that the author of the Taveling Pants books recommended Peaches, and since I LOVED those books, I had to read this one. It's about three girls who probably wouldn't be friends, but then they spend a summer together. I really liked all of the girls in different ways, even though I think I'm most like Birdie (the shyest one). Anyway, I read this book in one weekend because I couldn't put it down. I was so sad when it was over!Everyone should definitely read this book!

This was a very fun book-- there was a lot going on, since there were three main characters and therefore alternating points of view. It was interesting to watch how the girls grew together to become best friends, and it wasn't at all fake: through the entire book, the girls weren't hesitant to make smart remarks to each other. I loved the portrayal of the peach orchard, around which the book was centered; it brought the story together and brought it to life. The descriptions were wonderful and evoked strong imagery. The girls learned to grow together through their differences in personalities and the hardships they were facing as teenage girls. My favorite character was definitely Murphy; she was strong and independent, and had a tendency to speak rather sharply at times. She loved to get herself into mischief. However, she was not perfect: at times she let her guard slip, and her friends were able to see underneath her tough cover.

I recommend this book to any teenager who is looking for a quick enjoyable read with themes that pertain to almost every young girl.

...but darn close. Peaches contains all the key ingredients: summer heat, a diverse trio of girls, roller-coaster love lives, and crazy hijinks. But make no mistake--this isn't an imitation of Ann Brashare's novels. Rather than being best friends who are separated, Murphy, Birdie and Leeda start out quite averse to getting to know one another. The setting is also a world away from Maryland; this book's adventures take place on a floundering orchard in Georgia, buzzing with emigrant workers. And finally, the girls' personal struggles are interesting and fresh. All this makes Peaches a worthy choice if you're craving more Traveling Pants goodness. A few have too much dialogue and too little action, which is why this gets only 4 stars, but otherwise, I'd love a sequel to this. Perhaps they can even call it "Pears".

This book is about three very different girls whose paths cross and all end up in the same place becoming the best of friends. This book is a sweet read about one juicy summer for the girls. In the beginning they all lead very different lives and have no interest in each other what so ever and their relationship grows strong and trustworthy.

During their summer at the Georgia Peach Orchard the all tried the perfect peaches and learned to appreciate them. They all have there moments of romance with their perfect guys and do things that they didn't think they would ever do. They decide that nobody should end their friendship and that they would be friends forever.

They all had a true love for the Orchard and the thick aroma of sweet peaches in the summer. At home there lives may be completely different but at there orchard they share one life and one friendship.

Jodi used a very funny, sweet and imaginative way of writing that made the reader very interested and sucked into the book. I really enjoyed reading this realistic fiction book and I would highly recommend this book to all young readers especially girls. I enjoyed it because the story was credible, the characters were very interesting and the plot was very adventurous and sweet. This book kind of was like The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants because it is about true friendship and a little romance.

If you liked the sisterhood of the traveling pants, then you will LOVE this book! The writing styles as well as the characters from both books are very similar. This book appeals mostly to teenage girls, but I would recommend it to any woman. The plot kept me captivated from cover to cover. I was finished before I realized it, and I wanted to read more! Even though the author is not a teen, she wrote this book as if she was one. I could connect with each of these characters, and I felt as if I was in the story with them. That quality made reading this book a very enjoyable experience. The author really captured these girls' spirits.

If I had one quibble about this book it would be that it should be more descriptive. More descriptive of the characters, their appearance, the setting, and so on.

As the story progressed they all came to meet in a peach orchard owned and run by Birdie and her father Walter. When they start working there over spring break, the three girls are very distant from each other, but as time progresses, and when they come back to work again over the summer they become good friends. They unite to sneak out and help each other make the best out of life. This is the perfect book to read if you are looking for a feel-good story!

Birdie, Leeda, and Murphy have absolutely nothing in common, save for the fact that they have to spend the summer working in a peach orchard. Leeda, the debutante whose father owns the orchard, is being punished for dating Rex, who's from the wrong end of town. Murphy, the wild child, is being punished for sneaking onto the orchard one night with a guy from who knows where. Birdie, Leeda's slightly chubby cousin, isn't being punished, but her mother thinks the job could be good for her. Although the three girls couldn't be more different, working together every day for months is bound to bring them together -- right? Several "misunderstandings" in the beginning make it seem impossible. But as the summer wears on, the girls come to understand each other better, and they find themselves getting along. This story about unlikely friendship is sweet without being sickly so, and the girls' acceptance of each other and the lessons they learn are far from preachy. The writing and characters present make this book as juicy as the cover, and as delectable.

oh my god! i loved this book so much i read it in two days and then i read it again the next day!

the book PEACHES is about 3 very different girls (murphy-the rebel/tramp; leeda-the sweet and innocent; and birdie-loner home schooler girl that wishes she had a friend] who get together at a peachorchard [owned by birdie's dad//leeda's uncle]

Murphy has to go there because she has to do voluntary work for sneaking onto the orchard.

leeda has to be there because she WAS going to spend the spring break w/her [studly] boyfriend Rex but her [unloving] parents changed there mind

and Birdie has to be there because her mom ran off on her and her dad so she hs to work EXTRA hard on keeping the peaches *perfect*

i know what you might be thinking.. ' BiG WH00P, A PEACH 0RCHARD iN GE0RGiA.. '

but it was one of the best books i have ever read..

and im a big fan of "Y0UNG ADULT" teen books and read attleast 2 a month.

I absoultly loved this book! It was a great summer read and a great find! It was very insightful and it had humor and it showed how inportant friendship can be. Even if the people who become your friends are people you would never expect. It shows how making sacrifices in life helps you to grow stronger as a person. I loved this book and i cant wait to read the second one , " The secret of Peaches". I recomend this book for teenagers who just want a feel good read.
